They moved from Parma, Monroe County, NY about 1835 to Highland Township, Oakland County, MI. One of the founders of the Methodist Church in Highland. There is a lake, Taggett Lake, that sits on the land he used to own. Looking for Hannah Crocker Davis mothers name. I have most of the info on Abram Taggett. If anyone knows of any written info about them I would be very interested in it. Thank you. Sherri Sherri: Have you tried looking in any of the Oakand County histories? If he came to Oakland county in the time period you are discussing, and you indicate he was a founder of the Methodist Church in Highland, he should be mentioned in it as being one of the first settlers and again under the church organizations. I don't have an exact title but you should be able to do a lookup on the LDS website - familysearch.org to locate it and then order the film or if in book form, send a letter to the library at Salt Lake and request a photocopy of the pages you find him mentioned. You also might want to check the LDS films of the Sesquentennial Pioneer records that were done a few years ago. It is a rather lengthy list of film numbers once you find it and it was filmed in alphabetical order. Perhaps someone submitted for a pioneer certificate on your folks or your family. They had to submit documented proof at the time they sent for it to prove they were in Michigan in the beginning. If they missed the cutoff for a pioneer certificate, there was another certficate issued, but I don't recall the name of that one as I went for the pioneer certificate myself. There was also a filming of records for the Centennial as well that was done 50 years before the latest, so check those films out as well. You might also want to see if one of the early Beer's maps for Michigan might show your family surname as one of the original landowners of Oakland County listed and perhaps show the lake you mentioned. Hope this helps you to locate something on your family. Christie Trapp
