Hi Everyone, As most of you know I offer free obituary lookups for Oakland County. After yesterday I feel I need to restate the guidelines. I did 83 obituary lookups yesterday. Out of that 83, I found 62. Problems: 1. I am getting requests that have no address on them so I find the obits and I have to send another email and ask for address. PLEASE include your mailing address (not email) when requesting obituary lookup. Outside the US will get a digital photograph of the obit. 2. Requests for obits outside of Oakland County. Sorry, not doing Detroit, or Ingham or anything but Oakland. Also keep in mind that I need a full death date. There is NO index, so I can't search full months for an obit. 3. Multiple requests. I would love to but with the volume of requests this is a ONE per PERSON offer. 4. This morning I woke to 4 people emailing me stating they had already gone and gotten the obit themselves or thru another channel. Next time could you tell me BEFORE I spend my TIME and Money getting your obit that you already have it? It would be much appreciated. I don't mean to sound crabby over it, but there were people who didn't get their lookup yesterday because I was busy getting yours, which you already had. 5. The obit lookups are going to be a once a month item, first come first serve. Next trip for obits is June. So please try to keep those things in mind when you request an obit. It will make things easier for everyone.
