Greetings List, I'm looking for information on Emma Hanson who married Frank Schad Jr. Frank grew up in Cottonwood and Jackson Counties, near Heron Lake, MN. The couple was married in Heron Lake, but later moved to Placer County, CA. I have lots of information on Frank, but am trying to find something out about Emma. She looks to have been born around 1891 +/- a year. Lived for a time in Alba Twp., Jackson Co., MN. The couple never had children. I also know from obituaries that Emma was the daughter of Hans & Anna (Folden) Hanson. After her husband Frank died in California, I can't find her whereabouts. Hope to hear from someone soon.... For four years following their marriage the young couple made their home with the groom’s parents. In 1885 they moved onto the Ole Gardner farm (now occupied by the Albert M. After residing there for 20 years they moved to Spring Valley, which has since been their home.Eleven children were born to them -five sons and six daughters nine of whom are Living: Peter of Spring Valley, Marie (Mrs.Raymond Fischbach) of Manteca, Calif., Gena (Mrs. Neal McGuire) of Berkeley, Calif., Clara (Mrs. Lacon Case) of Ft. For ten years or more Mrs. Hanson has been in declining health; seven years ago she had a stroke and she has since been confined to her home. Mrs. Hanson’s death has left an aching void in the hearts of her loved ones. Her life was adorned by many beautiful Christian virtues. In her death the Spring Lake congregation and the Ladies Aid have lost a most faithful and loyal member. As a tribute to the memory of their beloved mother, her sons and daughters made a gift of $50 to the Spring Lake Ladies Aid and $5 to the church choir. The Ladies Aid also made a gift of $5 to the missions of the Lutheran church. Another gift of $5 in her memory was made by her husband to radio station WCAL, which through the broadcasting of its Norwegian services brought comfort to her when she was unable to attend services. Memorial gifts to missions, the Old People’s Homes at Wittenberg and Stoughton, the Spring Lake church and WCAL were also made by Miss Josie Banks, Mrs. Peter Folden and family, Mrs. A. For Emma's line, the "r" usually meant "resides", but in this case, that address is different than Franks. Unless it was the address for her employment. Stockton is in San Joaquin County. I looked in the abbreviations for that issue and found "SJC" was the Stockton Junior College. There was no abbreviations for "SJCH". In 1967, that address was found to be the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. At that time, Rev Ysidro Armenta was pastor. But, this does give a "possible" lead for you. California Death Index for Frank Joseph Schad, born 10 Oct 1881, died 30 Sep 1955 in Placer County. County recorder records for Placer and San Joaquin Counties, might hold documents recorded by them, property related, death/power-of-attorney related, etc. I checked marriage records for "Schad" from 1950's to 1970's, no Emma. He was about 74 when he died, she would have been about 65. If you have not: Get Frank Schad's obituary, get it. It may have the location where he was to be buried, Emma may be there. Post in the Placer County sites: http://www.rootsweb.com/~caplacer/index.htm I would start in the Placer and San Joaquin county's. Since she had sisters also living in California, I would "Guess" she probably stayed near her family since she didn't have children. Ron Bestrom
