    2. Forwarded to List by List Manager: Subj: {not a subscriber} Rachel Greseth Date: 7/9/02 5:50:39 PM Central Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Holmes, Kerin) To: [email protected] ('[email protected]') CC: [email protected] (Holmes, Kerin) July 9, 2002 Dear Emily Erickson -- I just happened to be searching the net for the name Norstad, as my mother was Myrtle Norstad of Cannon Falls, MN -- and I saw your message regarding Rachel Greseth. Rachel Greseth and Oscar Cornelius Norstad were my mother's parents and thus, my wonderful grandparents. They had a farm near Cannon Falls, MN and when I was young we would often spend summers with them on their farm. One of my mother's sisters was Ruth, who married Conroe Erickson -- would they possibly be your grandparents, Emily? My grandfather, Oscar Norstad was a terrific man who loved horses and instilled in me a great love for them, as well -- such that, today I breed Arabian horses (though on a very small scale). He had a great sense of humor and loved his jokes. My grandmother, Rachel, was a beautiful woman and such a wonderful, warmhearted person. I believe she greatly resembled Candice Bergen and all of her daughters -- my mother, Ruth, Evelyn, Louella and Marilyn -- were lovely women. My mother married Gifford Holmes, a patent attorney and an inventor. I'm pretty sure we are "cousins," though I don't know if it's second or third cousins. Anyway, it's nice to have found you. My younger sister, Lani Verbout, is our "family historian" so she would love to hear from you, I'm sure. Her e-mail address is: [email protected] I live in Los Angeles, California and work at O'Melveny & Myers, a law firm. My boss is former U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher and we are very involved in national and international matters for the government and in various political campaigns. I've worked with Mr. Christopher since he retired from the State Department in 1997 and in that time, he's written two books -- one of them, "Chances of a Lifetime" is a memoir and was on the best seller list for several weeks. He is Norwegian, too, and if we go back far enough is probably related to both you and me. He is a wonderful man, such a gentleman and highly respected. I'm so fortunate to have such a great job that I enjoy going into each day. Let me know more about you and your family, Emily -- and let my sister Lani know, too. She lives in Normal, Illinois with her husband John Verbout. Best regards. Kerin Holmes Los Angeles, CA e-mail: [email protected]
