Claire , My father went by a different name all his life, the name of his "adopted" family ,trouble was a lot of them were not legal adoptions , just children taken in by other families. My Dad took his legal birthname (surname) when he married .So anyone looking for him not knowing this would never find him .This could be the case of your Jenny ?
