I certainly agree about the lookups from sources not readily available. More than once, people have done lookups in books that they owned, and provided me information I was not finding in the usual places. I wrote to Vital Statistics to obtain a death certificate for my great grandfather, and was told they had none. Someone who had in her possesion a copy of some kind of a city directory of deaths did a lookup for me and found the death date, and other info on my great gandfather's. With that, I was able to write the Vital statistics Dept back with a specific date of death, and they sent me the death certificate. I have since been able to locate his grave, the address where he lived, his naturalization records, and his ships records. Whatever would we do without volunteers. They are indeed genealogy angels. Not only would the requester learn how to find the information he/she is looking for, but the other listers would learn about new search sites as well. I think in the long run we all gain knowledge as well as satisfaction from doing our own digging. It also often happens that we're searching for one person only to find other related family members we didn't know existed until we did the search, whereas a stranger may not recognize the additional names. We simply don't all know the internet as well as others, and need a little guidance. The John C that you are seeking "might" be the one born 3 Aug 1913, died 9 Feb 2001, last residence 92128, San Diego, CA. (But I see that Mary Wickersham found another). So you might need to check the list for others. I found 4. I looked in News Bank and found 173 obituaries that had a John Hager within the article. I could check for a specific one, if you have the date of death. I could also check local County Auditor Recorded Documents. Ron Bestrom >> >>
