My grandfather first settled in Cass County. The land description as registered at Cass Lake. The location is N1/2W, Fifth PM, Twp. 142N, range 32W, section 29. He supposedly married and had a daughter Annie (Anna) Gumelia born Jan 16, 1888. (I have been told the land he bought was adjusted into another county and is no longer in Cass County). I have begun to suspect that Annie was an out of wedlock baby. Apparently her mother died during or shortly after childbirth and my grandfather, Lars Snustad (Snustadtro) allowed a family by the name of Mikkelson to adopt her. He moved to the Bemidji area after that. What I would like to know is the date of the marriage and the name of Annie's mother. She is the only sibling of my mother to never live in Canada.
