From the Herman Review Herman, Grant County Minnesota Dated Thursday, December 12, 1968 (Typed just as it appeared in original Newspaper, including any/all typos) Mrs. John Austvold 1901- 1968 Funeral services for Mrs. John Austvold, 67, were held Wednesday, December 4, 1968 in the Bethel Lutheran church at Herman. Rev. Soderberg of Elbow Lake officiated at the 2 p.m. church service and at the burial in Lakeside cemetery. Music at the final rites was provided by Mrs. Gail Sperr and Mrs. Ray Kvale. Bearers were Ernest Andersen, Denny Austvold, Orton Gillen, George Itzen, Raymond Johnson, and Robert Richards. Mrs. Austvold died quite suddenly about 2:30a.m. December 2. Julia Amanda Strand was born January 4, 1901 in Chippewa Falls Twp., Pope county, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Andrew and Anna Strand. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed October 31, 1915 in the Chippewa Falls Lutheran church. She graduated from Glenwood Pubic schools and became a registered nurse at St. Likes School of Nursing of Fargo, in 1926. She was married to John Austvold June 1, 1932. Three sons, Norris, Paul and David, and one daughter, Joanne, were born to this marriage. Julia Austvold took an active part in Bethel Lutheran church and Wild Rose Rebekah Lodge and was an active member of the Herman Community for the 36 years they have made their home here. She is survived by her husband and four children. Also remaining are three sisters, Mrs. E. W. Christians, Anna and Tillie Strand; three brothers, Ole and Hjalmer of Glenwood, and Carl of Presville, Sask.
