Hello list. I have three photos for which I would like some history, if possible. 1. Inside and outside of McCormick Harvesting Machines, Hopkins, MN. (now part of Minneapolis/St. Paul). A hardware owned and operated by John Vonderloh ca 1900 to 1905. 2. A wedding picture of Andreas Joa and Margaretha Geisen m. before 1875 (probably 1873 or 1874). This could be in the neighborhood of St. Martin. On the front of the picture is imprinted: A.C. Mans TORAH, MINN. If anyone recognizes these I would appreciate some feedback. Thank you. I am trying to find my gr grandmother's family. I was told she was born 27 Aug 1861 in Minnesota. Her name was Emma Josephine Davis. I don't know where in Minn but they think the family lived in Blue Earth? and originally were from Wales. Emma married Carlos Delos Older aka Charles approx 1886 possibly in Minn. I am trying to find Emma's parents. There are so many Davis' and I don't have a clue as to what their first names were. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roberta Turner Capello (Bobbi)

Looking for inf. on UKN JOHNSON family from NOR. to WI., possibly this family (all?) moved on to MN. May have come thru CAN?. Daughter Mary Helen JOHNSON, b. 1855, said t/b in Norway, d. Oct 7, 1887 in Stevens CO. MN., m. Simon E. Bright on May 7, 1874. Mary may have already been in MN. when she married Simon. Or,.... Simon could have gone back to WI to marry her. Mary was Simon's third (3rd) wife. Another possibility is that Simon had relatives in MA.... could this JOHNSON family have been in MA? And, Simon married Mary there? Simon BRIGHT'S family immigrated from ENG. to NS CAN to WI in 1840's. Some moving on to MN and MA. Do not have any inf. on when Mary JOHNSON'S family came to WI or from where. Except, that parents were b. in NOR. It's a shot in the dark, but have no other inf. on this JOHNSON family.... any help out there? Thank you, Myrna --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I am not sure whether Mary Bakeman has already told you about this -- so please excuse the repetition if she has. (Mary has been very instrumental in the creation of a Heritage Park memorial to the Ramsey County Poorhouse Cemetery, and she shares that story on the following program.) We are very excited to announce the airing of a MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO broadcast of a special documentary about American POORHOUSES. There will be an emphasis on Minnesota poorhouses; but there will also be a context of broader American poorhouse history. While we are not sure what station you need to listen to locally for this Public Radio broadcast, you may be able to find this information for yourselves. But ... The way anyone anywhere can listen to the radio broadcast is to listen on the INTERNET at http://mpr.org Then click on the PROGRAMS link. Then on that page scroll down to find and click on the listing for the MIDDAY program. You will need RealPlayer to hear the broadcast. The Poorhouse Documentary will be during the 2nd hour of the program. There will be a permanent website devoted to this documentary. On that website you will be able to get more information and find additional resources. It will also be possible to listen to this documentary in the future by clicking on a link which will be kept there It would be great if some of you could call in with your questions during the 2nd half hour which will be a Question & Answer session. Those questions will be answered by your local Minnesota researcher, Mary Bakeman, and myself. Linda Crannell aka=The Poorhouse Lady, host of The POORHOUSE STORY -- a clearing house for information about 19th century American poorhouses at http://www.poorhousestory.com We hope you will be able to join us!
To all:- There are many who like songs by Hank Snow -- native of my hometown, Liverpool, Nova Scotia -- and for many it is a weekend of camping at the Bridgewater Fairgrounds as "Friends of Hank Snow" gather for a weekend of song and memories. Many of us cannot be there - except by radio/internet program http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/bryanfkeddy/SONS.html Bryan Keddy has taped a memorable program for all -- just follow instructions -- and LISTEN! A Post-1901 Census 30-second spot is heard periodically, with my brother Ron Farquhar providing music, voice by Bryan. Is your family having a reunion? Let either Bryan or myself know, it will be included on each week's program format. Of interest: The annual camping session is at Bridgewater due to many in attendance -- the Hank Snow Museum is at Liverpool. [Wish I could be there -- instead of Ontario] Muriel M. Dear Members, Can anyone provide me with the date of death for the following person which is my mother's uncle: Kristian Johan Helgesen Slettebø, born May 25 1868 at Skipstad, Helleland, Rogaland, Norway. Moved to Duluth, Minnesota, on March 12 1887. As far as I know he died shortly thereafter, some 2 or 3 years later. I have been told he is buried in Sacred Heart. He was not married and had no children as far as I known. Any information is greatly appreciated. Yours sincerely Erling T. Endresen Egersund, Norway
