I am looking for any information on an Emily(Emilie or Amelia) WIck that was born in Red Lake County in June of 1894. She was in Polk County in Crookston in 1910 according to the census. Suppose to have moved to Fargo-Moorhead area around 1917. Wick was her maiden name and she did marrry and I do not know what her married name was. Any information would be appreciated. Coleen
Thanks to you all for your ideas and tips on Thomas MCDONALD and Alice CAHOON. I have managed to find a marriage date of 15 Sep 1928 in St Paul. So now I will have to follow up on that. Thanks again for your help, JanaLee Petersen
Greetings Family Researchers: My apologies to my fellow Listowner if he/she deems this message to be off-topic. When one considers the number of Canadians and Americans who migrated over the past number of years between the two countries I am sure you would agree this message falls into the acceptable range. The free-access Northeastern Ontario Canada Gravemarker Gallery website (link is below signature) has attracted a lot of attention in Canada and for Americans who are subscribed to Canadian Rootsweb mailing lists. This site is ongoing and contains over 45,000 photographs af ALL gravemarkers in ALL cemeteries in Parry Sound and Nipissing Districts [County equivalents]which covers a large area in Northeastern Ontario. Currently, I am working on Renfrew County and Sudbury District and when complete the site will constitute a huge coverage of the inhabited lands in Northeastern Ontario and will continue to be a valuable resource for genealogists. Please visit the site and pass on the URL to any "transplanted Canadians" you may know, whose ancestors came from this area of Canada. Good luck........................Murray Pletsch Northeastern Ontario Canada Gravemarker Gallery http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~murrayp

My grandfather first settled in Cass County. The land description as registered at Cass Lake. The location is N1/2W, Fifth PM, Twp. 142N, range 32W, section 29. He supposedly married and had a daughter Annie (Anna) Gumelia born Jan 16, 1888. (I have been told the land he bought was adjusted into another county and is no longer in Cass County). I have begun to suspect that Annie was an out of wedlock baby. Apparently her mother died during or shortly after childbirth and my grandfather, Lars Snustad (Snustadtro) allowed a family by the name of Mikkelson to adopt her. He moved to the Bemidji area after that. What I would like to know is the date of the marriage and the name of Annie's mother. She is the only sibling of my mother to never live in Canada. Thank you for any help you can provide. Gayle Papish

Hennepin County does not allow us to search the records, you have to give them the information and they look it up. And they do not do a search. It is annoying, but Hennepin is a huge county and the staff in that department are very busy. Additionally, the University of St Thomas is actually in St Paul, which is in Ramsey county. There is a campus in Minneapolis now, but that is fairly recent... I am quite certain it was not there in the 20's and 30's. So maybe you will have better luck searching in Ramsey, I have not had to research there so I do not know what their policy is. You also might want to check with the Catholic church - I am not Catholic so not sure of the heirarchy, but I think it is the St Paul Archdiocese. They would probably have the records if they were married in the Catholic Church. Good luck Jo

Hello all, I am back again now that I have a good idea as to what county the couple I am researching were married in. I would like to know how to find a marriage date and record for the following: Thomas McDonald and Alice Cahoon married in late 1920's or 1930 probably in Hennepin county as Thomas was attending University of St. Thomas at the time they met. Would appreciate help with this, thanks, JanaLee Petersen

Hello Everyone: I have recently added over 2,200 Ancestors to the 1600s Ancestor Data Base with more to come. The total is now over 24,500 and most all are proven Ancestors of descendants living today. I have also added several National Societies who have proven many of these Ancestors. Also for the first time a few respected Reference works that contain thousands of sources. This should be a big help for those of you trying to prove your lines. You will find the 1600s Ancestor Data Base at our new location URL. http://www.firstfamilies.org/db/ This is a free data base open to anyone who is interested in the 1600s and the many ancestors who were here at that time. While there be sure to read the INFORMATION & HELP page so you understand the codes that I have used and how to best use them. Happy hunting and most of all enjoy. Ryan Jackson Data Base Manager
I believe the 'bugbear' virus tried to hit me through this address. It had no subject but the address line was: JBergbom@aol.com. The letter contained an extensive itinerary for 13-night Royal Scandinavian Tour. I'm not really sure but surely this is not a subject for a mail list so I presume this was the affected letter. Rose

Hi, I am new to this list and to researching in Minnesota. I would like to know how one would go about finding marriage info in the late 1920's. Also, what type of info might be on the marriage license. I am looking for a marriage between a Thomas McDonald and Alice Cahoon. They settled in North Dakota. Thomas died young and his wife took her older children and supposedly returned to Minnesota. Her youngest child was put up for adoption as a result the family knows nothing of Alice or her parents. Thanks for any ideas or help, JanaLee Petersen
