Hello Folks, It's me again with some interesting follow-up to the St. Patrick's Church in Shieldsville being razed. As the walls of the burned out church were being knocked down last week, they found a cornerstone which held a time capsule placed there more than 120 years ago. On Sunday after 10 AM Mass, they opened the time capsule. Inside were three newspapers which were badly crumbling. They are going to seek help in preserving these. There also were coins, including an 1877 quarter- the year the church had been built. Nobody knew the time capsule was there, so they enjoyed the discovery. They await news from the Archdiocese on whether they can rebuild. Interesting. I have recent info stating that there was an orphanage in the city of St. Cloud, Stearns County, starting around 1924. Can anyone verify that? And if so, I'd also like to know what entity might now hold the records from that institution. I've been told, but have not verified that it was run by the Catholic Church. Thanks, Dennis

You can look at the Swedish records online at www.genline.com. Check to see if they have your parishes before you sign up. It's about $31 a month, but I've had great success, or you can order the household record in microfilm from your local LDS Family History center.
