    1. Re: [MINNESOTA] Zimmerman, Carrie - John C. Scott
    2. Kathy I didn't know the 1880 census was at family search.org I had searched there but not for the census records, guess that is what happens when you don't go back once you have checked it once. I have no idea when she died. I have tried to get some info from ND but we have not found anything yet. I do have a person in ND that is doing that search for me. It appears she probably died before they were keeping records. But we have not given up. Of course if we could find a death record it would make life much easier. I was hoping that someone else would be searching this Zimmerman family. We know nothing about siblings or parents so it is guessing as to whether anyone we find is definitely her - although I will travel where I need to in order to find out. This is one of those family "can of worms" so I can't ask too many questions and there really isn't anyone left to ask anyway. ARGHHHH thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jo

    3. Regarding Myrtle Iverson: What I posted is what has been found both in the obits, SSDI, Death Cert., and from family. She lived next door to her only daughter and family. When I met my wife, we used to have great visits with her grandmother for the debates (arguments) I would carry on with her. Up until the day she died, her mind was as sharp as a tack and deadly at debates(crash and burn tactics were standard fare with her). But she was extremely closed about her family origins. Hopefully time will expose some info that could be usefull. Thanks all anyway. Byron Schafbuch - MN > > > > MYRTLE G. 1. [MINNESOTA] Zimmerman, Carrie - John C. Scott
    2. I am searching for any information on my great grandmother. I know very little... ZIMMERMAN, Carrie born September 1873 in Illinois (info taken from census records)  She married John C SCOTT c. 1895, in Minnesota. They had 6 sons - the first 3 born in Minnesota and last 3 in ND: Arthur, George, Elam, John Alexander (my grandfather), Ernest, and Fredie. Can anyone identify her parents or siblings?  Any information on any of these Scotts would be appreciated as well  Any help would be appreciated. Jo Hogle

    3. First, I would try to get her death certificate. I'm guessing from the info you gave that it's probably in ND. Second, go to http://www.familysearch.org/ Click on "census" wording by the second picture in the left column In the drop down list by "Census" choose "1880 United States" Put "Carrie" and "Zimmerman" in for the search criterea Choose "United States" for the Birthplace Country Choose "Ilinois" for the Birthplace State Click "Search" !6 hits are returned for results. Most are too old or too young. There is one "Careline" born in 1873, which may be the one you are looking for. She is in Rutland, Kane Co., Illinois. Parents, Chrisopher and Rachel were born in Mecklenburg. She has a few siblings older than she is. There is another Caroline ZIMMERMAN b. 1872 in Naperville, Du Page Co., Illinois. Father, Jacob, born in Bavaria and mother, Mary, born in PA. This Caroline is listed with three younger siblings. If you know any of Carrie's siblings then you may be able to figure out which Carrie it is that you want. Another helpful bit of info would be Carrie's obit. It may list her living brothers and sisters and, hopefully, where they are currently residing. Hope that helps a little, Kathy MNGenLdy@aol.com wrote: > I am searching for any information on my great grandmother. 1. [MINNESOTA] *NEW* USA Passport Registers 1829 to 1887 online
    2. Lorine McGinnis Schulze
    3. Hi Everyone, I've just uploaded Surnames C, D, E, F & G to the online "Index to Special Passport Applications USA 1829 to 1887" on NaturalizationRecords.com website at http://naturalizationrecords.com/ Passports were granted to citizens of the United States going to foreign countries. Passports were granted to those satisified the requirement that they be "entitled to receive them" Special passports were issued to US diplomatic and consular officers, military attaches, secretaries of legations, and other government officers and their families A big thank you to volunteer transcriber Cindy Lewis for her continued hard work on this Passport Project. As well as the surnames added today, Surnames A & B are online for all to use freely. I will be adding new surname letters as they are ready to go online. You can begin your search at Surnames A at http://naturalizationrecords.com/usa/passports1829- 87a.shtml This URL may wrap to 2 lines. If so, either copy and paste BOTH lines (no spaces between lines!) into your web browser Let the page load, then scroll down to see the list of names. Be sure to read the intro so you know how to get the full record! Near the bottom is a menu to follow for choosing the other surname letters If you have trouble getting the long URL to work for you, start at http://naturalizationrecords.com/usa/passports.shtml Scroll down to the text that begins "Online Passport Records" The second choice is "Index to Special Passports 1829-1887 an Index for all states in USA [NEW! on NaturalizationRecords.com] " That is where you will click to view the list of names. I have other passport applications and registers, some are online, others still need volunteer transcribers: Register of Passports from 14 November 1834 to 1843 an Index for all states in USA [NEW!] Index to Special Passports 1829-1887 an Index for all states in USA [NEW! ] Index to Special Passports 1872-1882 [needs a transcriber] Register of Passport Applications 1809-1817 [NEW!] Index to Passports 1830-1831 [needs a transcriber] Index to Passports 1850-1852 [needs a transcriber] As always, all records on NaturalizationRecords.com are free for all to use. If you want to pass this note on to others, please do. Enjoy! 3. Becky, I believe the township name is: CASHEL. You may want to confirm this with the County Coordinator for Swift County GenWeb page. Take a look at the Minnesota State Highway Department map at http://www.mrr.dot.state.mn.us/geotechnical/aggregate/maps/swift.pdf Zoom In to 150% so you can read the fine print. I found this by a search on Google for "Swift County Minnesota Township Maps. Good luck with your research. According to this Itasca County was formed in 1849 and was an original county (no parent county). I don't know whether this helps or confuses the issue. Regards, Judy

    3. Can someone look-up David L. Hewitt on the 1860 US census. He was known to have lived in Scott Co, Anoka Co. and Hennpin Co. Minnesota. He enlisted at Ft Snelling in 1862. Thank You Jim

    1. [MINNESOTA] Calumet, Minnesota
    2. Barry and Sue Smith
    3. Calumet is now in Itasca Co., but that county wasn't formed until 1891. Can anyone tell me which county would have had Calumet records for 1885?
