    3. Patrick David and Louisa Carpenter are in Kasota township ,Le Sueur county, Minnesota , 1870 page 21, alternative page 387. David 35, farm laborer, born Canada , 300 personal estate Louisa 25, born MN Armenia 6, born MN Nelson 4, born MN August 5/12 born MN birth month Feb. Neither David or Louisa reads or writes. I did not see McLane (any of the spelling) listed in any of those counties. No Andrews in those counties. No Laramie in SD 1870. But I am just looking at the 1870 index done by Genealogy.com , so it is not perfect by any means. Good LUck Anna Patman7730219468@cs.com wrote: > > Hi, I`m looking for Louisa (Laramie) Carpenter m. 3. Patrick, Did you know the 1880 census is completely transcribe? It's online already and it's free. You can search the whole thing to your heart's content. I have the site bookmarked. Go to: http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp Click on "Census" in the left column Go to the drop down list for "Census" and choose 1880 United States Census Fill in the rest of the boxes however you like and click search. The rest is pretty self explanatory. When you select a particular individual in your search results list and click on that name, look at the page that comes up. Try the "Household" link in the upper right. It will show you everyone in that particular household. Then try the "Next Household" or "Previous Household." Chances are you'll find some of their grown kids or other family members living near by. Happy Hunting, Kathy Patman7730219468@cs.com wrote: > Hi Margit, I`m looking for all three states. There's no Manistique listed there. Search Google for: "viking studio" manistique and you get one hit for a photo with a label from Manistique, Mich. Is it possible it was a typo on a batch of blank prints ordered by the studio and they used them, anyway? You can try contacting the Historical Society or some simliar organization in Manistique, Michigan, and see if they can confirm that there was a Viking Studio there (and the time period that it was in business). -- John Van Essen <vanes002@umn.edu> University of Minnesota Alumnus Fridley, Minnesota Genealogy page: http://www.cpl.umn.edu/~jve/gen/ Crow Wing Co Gen & Hist Soc page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mncwcghs/

    1. [MINNESOTA] NICOLLET-LESUEUR BOOK
    2. Antoinette Waughtel Sorensen
    3. Does anyone have a copy to the Nicollet-Lesueur I published for 1916 where they could check pages 271 & 300 for reference to the Rev. John Kerns and possibly copy/scan it to me? I also believe Rev. John Kerns is referenced in the Goodhue County History published 1878 on page 351. It has taken me a good 30 years to find anything on this gentleman who is my 3rd great grandfather. I recently was sent a copy of a picture of him from a book and I don't know if it might be one and same as the above as there was no caption to the article. I am hoping to find some reference to his first wife the former Edna Smith. Any help that anyone can give me will be gratefully appreciated. Antoinette (Tacoma, Washington)

    2. Josh Sherretts
    3. Hi, I was wondering if anyone lived near the Renville County Courthouse or a historical society in Renville, particularly in or near Buffalo Lake. I live in Pennsylvania and cannot travel out there soon. I was wondering if anyone would mind looking up William Daniel Wallner in one or both of those places. He was born in the early 1880s in Minnesota, and died after 1925. His wife's name was Lillian Wallner (Douglas), and his parents names were John G. and Anna Wallner. He was supposed to have been county commissioner in Renville from 1920 to 1925. I need all types of info: birth, death, marriage, etc. If it can be found, any newspaper articles or other info from his County Commissioner job would be nice. Thank you for your time and any infy you may provide, Josh

    3. Speaking of Swedish changing their names. My grandfather's name was Per Gustave JOHANSSON, and then changed it to BOWMAN when he came over to the US. Noone else in the family has the name BOWMAN, but another one changed it to RYDHE (no others as far as I know). So there does not need to be a reason for the change in name.
