I'm new to this List I'm trying to find information on the below marriage: Wayne Baney (first name not confirmed, surname confirmed) To: Elizabeth Anderson (both names confirmed) When / Where: 09 Nov 1930, Minneapolis. Date and place not confirmed Note: One family source states that Wayne Baney was a Minister; not confirmed. Any help would be appreciated; I've been searching for a long time but so far no luck. I'm not familiar with American records and sources. John Gregson Dawson Creek, BC, Canada jfgregson@shaw.ca

Thanks for correcting me. I was not aware of the existence of any census prior to the 1857 territorial census. I learned something new. Thanks Jo Hogle
Minnesota was part of Wisconsin Territory in 1840. Joy Marty Adrian www.martyfamily.com I can't recall off hand if it's Dakota or another territory for 1840. Joan
Scroll half way down this page and you'll find maps & the 1850 census images: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mn/mnfiles.htm There's a map for Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota Territories 1832-1858. Hi, New to this list and would appreciate if SKS could tell me if Minneapolis/St-Paul is located in the Northern or Southern Section of MINN. The 1930 US Federal Census I am considering ordering is for Southern Section of the state. Many thanks. Joan in NYS --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. The first census of record is the 1857 territorial census made to determine if there were enough people in the territory to warrant statehood. JH

I have found the following in the US Census 1860 for Saint Paul / Ramsey: Herman Bueneman born 1810 Prussia with his wife Mary born 1813 Prussia and his brother Stephen Bueneman born 1820 Prussia I want to know if there is any information about these individuals in the 1840 or 1850 Census of Saint Paul and if there is anyone who can give me information about the family Bueneman in Minnesota. Hi Kaye, 1860 MN Census for Nicollet County, Traverse Township (near the Minnesota River north of Mankato) Louis Laramie married Tatodoota/Tateduta/Red Wind/Mary Red Iron by Father Augustine Ravoux around 1842 Mendota, MN. Mary was Sisseton/Wahpeton Indian (two of the seven Santee Tribes (Eastern Sioux) of MN) Children were Rosalie, Josephine Allaine, Louisa, Edward, and Narcisse McNeal (all marked as Indian on 1860 census records) Rosalie is my greatgreat grandmother whose records I have and her sister Louisa`s records. I going after Edward right now. After the Sisseton and Wahpeton were put on there reservation on the ND/SD/MN border Edward became a Indian Scout at Fort Wadsworth which was torn down and put back up three times between the three state borders, ending up near Sisseton, then renamed Fort Sisseton. That`s the last record I`ve got on Edward. Rosalie died in the Twin Cities and Louisa in Nicollet County, don`t know if the other kids went with the Indians or stayed in MN. Thanks Patrick
Glinda, I agree with Jo. I also checked and could find no place by that name (town, county, or even historical place). In fact, the USGS site shows nothing for that name in the US. And, I also found no Maggie/Margaret Coy in the MN census that was born in 1875. However, I did search on Bruerne and all of the results dealt with a town(region?) named Bruerne in Northhampshire, England. These hits also included some with the last name COY. So, perhaps, your location information was confused somewhere over the years? MeLani --I am new to this list and know very little about MN. I am --researching the surname Coy. -- --I am looking for information on the parents of Maggie Coy --born in Bruerne Co. in 1875. -- --I tried to find a census records but I can't find this --county. Anyone have information on it? Maybe the county --changed its name? I am lost at this point. Any help would --be greatly appreciated. -- --Thank You, --Glinda

Do you have any idea of a town or general location? It could be that it isn't really in Minnesota. I did a quite glance at the 1880 census at familysearch.org and I didn't find someone with that exact name or year. But you may want to check it more thoroughly if you have more info, and might find the family there. Good Luck Jo
Hello Everyone: We have posted a list of early VA immigrants that should be of help to those of you who may be having problems with establishing your early lines there. This concerns the Children Ordered Sent to Virginia 1618-1642 and contains a listing of 468 children, including 337 before the Mayflower landed in 1620! We have also included information on the reason for these relocations here so you can better understand why this practice happened during that time period. This would represent many thousands of lines and could be a reason why you may be having problems with your early people there. You will find the list located on the web site at; http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/ Once you get there you will be looking for the link Family Pages Index which you will enter. On the Family Index Page enter CHILDREN SENT TO VA 1618-1642. Everyone has FREE access to all our web site and the reports contained there. Enjoy Harold Oliver America's First Families
