The first couple Minnesota state census returns are only every name compilations. By 1905 they included birthplaces of the individual and parents and 1895 and 1905 both include how long the individual had been living in the state and in the enumeration district. Military service is also included. I find the 1895 census to be especially helpful because of the missing 1890 returns. Jean R. 3. Hi, Could someone tell me what would be contained in a Death Certificate for Hennepin Co.? From the on-line Minnesota Historical Soc. website I obtained death info on an ancestor, but it states no indexed info for d.o.b., place of birth, mother's maiden name. It only shows full name, ID #, d.o.d. and county. Before I write to acquire a copy, I just need to know if there would be any other info that would be of use in my researching this family, i.e., funeral home name, name of spouse, etc.. Many thanks. 3. Hi, It depends on who the informant was and how much information they had on the deceased. The funeral home is usually listed as is the cemetery the deceased was removed to. As a whole, the death certificates are worth getting. Birthdates, birthplaces, parents and spouse names etc. are usually listed if known. 1. [MINNESOTA] McDADE-DNA Project
    2. Janice R Freeman
    3. From: Janice R Freeman mcdade-dna@juno.com To: ALL McDADE Descendants Announcing: McDADE-DNA Project Visit: the Sept McDade Clan Davidson home page at mcdade.bravepages.com and go to the: McDade Surname DNA Project page under Table of Contents If you have questions, contact me at McDADE-DNA@juno.com You can read more about DNA Testing through the Links at mcdade.bravepages.com or FamilyTreeDNA.com. We are inviting Y O U to participate in our McDADE-DNA Project which we are expecting to be a valuable asset to our paper trail research to show how our various McDADE lines throughout the world may be connected thru : 1. your direct participation if you are a direct line McDADE male descendant (direct male in your McDADE line all the way back to your earliest known McDADE ancestor, including yourself) by participating in the DNA testing. OR 2. your indirect participation (because you are or became a male descendant of a McDADE daughter at some point in your McDADE line OR are a McDADE daughter) by finding the fathers, brothers, uncles, nephews, cousins that are direct line male McDADE descendants in your family and urging them to participate under 1. above. First, if it is at all possible, please participate in the 25 marker test as this gives us a much better analysis of the known, possible, or potential relationships. Each and every participant is an important link in connecting our various lines whether our ancestor was an early arrival in the 1600's or 1700's or a later arrival in the 1800's or 1900's in Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, USA, etc. Our ancestors may have come directly from Scotland or via Ireland, but with McDADE as the primary spelling, we are probably all cousins in one way or another. You may contact me at any time if you have questions. There is no medical connection with any of this, just a check on the male DNA markers that are passed father to son almost intact for many generations, with an occasional mutation. It is especially important to have a male participate (regardless of age) if the male is the only or one of two male McDADE descendants of a father, grandfather or great grandfather. Unfoutunately, the daughters can not do this for this particular easy, efficient, and economical test. I hope you will participate in the launching of this great project for our McDADE's everywhere. Please inform others you feel should be contacted or send me names, e-mail addresses, and or snail addresses and phone numbers for other McDADE kin. I can't wait to see how our markers reveal our potential relationships, especially if many of you will select the 25 plus marker DNA test. Dennis ---------- There is no census for 1890 -- it was destroyed in a fire. You could find these people in the 1900 Soundex (census index). Your public library could get the microfilms for you on inter-library loan or you could get them at your closest Family History Library. Good luck! Jean R. 1. [MINNESOTA] Where to look for missing brother
    2. John Slaughter
    3. Good morning, everyone. This is further information from Donna. I noticed on the list that her e-mail didn't come through. Her address is gramdw97@aol.com. Here is the info: Her mother's name was Helen Leona MAYCLIN, b. 8/12.22, father was Donald Alexander BUCHANAN, grandmother's married name was Mrs. Whilhemina BUCHANAN. They were members of St. Stephen's Catholic parish in Minneapolis. The 1941 date for her brother's birth is an educated guess from what little is known. She and her other siblings were born at Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis and had the same doctor, Dr. Merkert. Her parent's were not married at the time and the grandmother may have been involved in taking the baby. There have been a few replies, and thank you for your help and ideas. I hope you can help Donna find her brother.
