    2. Robert Tucker
    3. Hello to everyone on this line who has ever helped me. I was just a beginner and with your advice and help I was able to locate the place of my Grandfathers Grave. I visited it last week and found out a lot of other information about him also. Margit once told me to think about all the facts I remembered about Grandfather no matter how minor it seemed. Well I remembered that he was a Mason and belive it or not it was this fact that helped me finally identify his grave. So as she says litttle facts can be quite important. My thanks to all of you. Annette Carlson Tucker.

    3. In my mother's stuff, I have an obituary for Nils F Erickson. "Death Claims Crosby Resident on Sunday" He was born August 21, 1850 in Varmland, Sweden and immigrated to American in 1893 and settled in Aitkin County. Survivors are listed as: Mrs. Old Johnson, Ole Erickson, Mars Jim Anderson, Hugo, Robert, Arthur, Austin and Abel. He married Sigrid Swanson in 1885 before immigrating to the US. I'm trying to figure out who his relatives are and how he's connected to my line of Swansons and Ericksons. If anyone has any information on this Nils F Erickson, I would appreciate it! Thank you, Christie

    3. That was an intriguing question. And, being a research addict, I just had to look for the answer to it. Here's a Strib article about how the t-shirts got started: http://www.startribune.com/stories/513/4674924.html I went to http://www.anywho.com and did a white pages lookup for WEERTS in Winnebago. There were five Weerts households listed, with one of them being Robert. 2. Floyd Turner
    3. Hi again, In a note just received, it was pointed out to me that my last post was somewhat less than clear. Just goes to show you, you never know how clearly you write until you read it through someone else's eyes! Winnebago was in Fairbault Co. I thought sure I was clear on the line of descent, but I'll try again. Cordelia YEAGER m.30 May 1870 James C. SMITH in Scotland Co., MO. Their youngest child was Lee S. SMITH b.10 Aug 1886. His next oldest sibling (brother), b.10 Apr 1883, was Berlin Berner SMITH, my grandfather, my mother's father. James C. died 4 Mar 1899. Cordelia married Grover C. GODFREY 2 Apr 1902 in Memphis, Scotland Co., MO, and they- Cordelia, Grover, and Lee- moved to Winnebago, Fairbault Co., MN soon thereafter. Cordelia and Grover had no children. Cordelia and Lee are both listed in the 1920 Federal Census of Winnebago, Fairbault Co., MN, she living in and owning the house on College St. and he renting on Main St. Cordelia died 9 Jul 1928. In the 1930 Federal Census of Winnebago, Fairbault Co., MN, Lee S. SMITH and his wife, Lottie, own the College St. property and have four children, Bernard(10yrs), Lawrence(9yrs), Elzia N.(4yrs), and Myrtle L.(21mos). I trust that will clarify my query. I sure hope there are some descendants of great-uncle Lee out there somewhere. Once again, thanks for your time. Floyd

    3. Hi Floyd, So, which county in Minnesota would you be looking in for records? Your post is not clear. I do not know what county Winnegago is in? <http://resources.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/townco.cgi> Have you checked the Minnesota Death Index? Are you looking in a Minnesota County? <http://people.mnhs.org/dci/> When searching for relatives in Minnesota, please state so. My interpretation is that your gggrandmother married a Godfrey, BUT she also had a son James C. Smith, NO FATHER'S NAME LISTED????? for the child Lee S. Smith? I think we need more information? 3. Hi List, I just found out I should be getting acquainted with you folks. My ggrandmother in Scotland Co., MO, Cordelia Mary YEAGER Smith, widow of James C. SMITH, married Grover C. GODFREY, 2 April 1902 in Memphis, MO, and moved to Winnebago, MN. They had no children and he died 8 Aug 1918. However, she brought with her from MO her youngest son, my g-uncle, Lee S. Smith, whose father was my ggrandfather, James C. SMITH. Cordelia and Lee are both listed in the 1920 Federal Census, she living in and owning the house on College St. and he renting on Main St. In the 1930 Federal Census, after Cordelia had died, Lee and his wife, Lottie, own the College St. property and have four children, Bernard(10), Lawrence(9), Elzia N.(4), and Myrtle I(21mos). My question, of course, is, do any of you know of this family and/or their descendants? My hope is to find a descendant of my ggrandfather who may know more than I do of his/my ancestors. Thank you for your time; I would be happy to clarify any of this I can if you are interested. Regards, Floyd E. Turner (my mother was a SMITH) Cheyenne, WY

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Bbkamradt@wmconnect.com > this is genealogy > i don't know too much. All i know is they lived in Pine > Island Minn and they came to visit cousin in Plynouth > County Iowa in the 40's my grandmother was a > McGarva or McGarvey i'd like to find the obits if you > know how i can get them or where to write > thank you for lyou help > barb In the 1930 Census, Pine Island, Goodhue County is a James Gordon age 37 (born circa 1892). He was born in Scotland. He was a field manager for a Cheese Factory. He was married to Anna B age 37. They were both 27 when married. She was born in Minnesota but her Father in Germany, Mother in Switzerland. They have a son James W age 9, and daughter Joan age 7. The 1920 census shows 7 James, one born in Scotland; however he was born circa 1877, not the above James and too young to be his father. Minnesota Death Records show a James Gordon, Date of Birth (DOB) 5/5/1892, Date of Death (DOD) 9/12/1964. The Social Security Death Index (SSDI) shows a James Gordon, DOB 5/4/1892 (one day different); DOD Sep 1964. It further identifies him as living in Pine Island, Goodhue Co, MN. His Social Security Number (SSN) was 469-03-4789. You can send a form to the Social Security Administration to order his application for his Social Security Number, the form SS-5. It will show who his parents were, where he applied for his SSN. James is buried in the Pine Island Cemetery, Section E with Spouse Anna B. There was an Anna Barbara Gordon, birth 9/7/1892, death 9/12/1976 in Hennepin County (Minneapolis), Mothers maiden name MARTY. The SSDI shows her SSN as 472-58-9977. Their records shows last residence in Saint Paul, Ramsey Co, MN 55108. The last residence may be where the final death payment was made to a survivor, either her son or daughter. Because Hennepin and Ramsey counties are so close (Minneapolis and St. Paul), she could have lived in either. (Their son, James W, born circa 1920 would only be 84 today. There are some James Gordon's listed in the Minneapolis area on www.switchboard.com . On a humerous side, James W. Gordon, was the Commissioner Gordon in the Batman Comic's, I didn't know that until I was researching for James W online). I would recommend writing to the Pine Island Library, giving them the date of death of both. They could research the local newspaper or other local materials. Perhaps call them first to identify a fee for their service, or include a check to the library with your request. Ron Bestrom A lister may also be in the area and could help.

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Bbkamradt@wmconnect.com> > looking for infor on JAMES GORDON of Pine Island Minn and who his wife is? > thank you It might help in your searches if you post some information about this person. Was/IS he and his wife living in Pine Island last year, in the 1940's, 1840's, 1740's? A name such as James Gordon could have many possibilities. Is this for genealogy or personal? If personal, he just might not want someone to get personal information about him, so if he is still living there (your question "who his wife is?") someone could relay a message to him that you are looking for information.
