We are looking for information about a Maria Christina Nilsdotter, b 10 of Sep 1878 (according to a death certificate, 1879 according to the Swedish records) in Vilhelmina, Sweden, and her husband Ola Petterson Nes, b 22 of June 1850 in Selbu, Norway. (His name can also be spelled Olaf or Ole and Peterson). They married in 1903. Apr 3rd 1907 they emigrated to USA. They left from Trondheim in Norway to Halifax. Name of the ship between Norway and England was Salomo and the shipping line was Allan. As far as we believe they settled in Perley, Pennington, Minnesota. That is the town they gave up when they departed from Trondheim and in one of very few saved letters from her she mentions Pennington but dont give much more information on that. After a couple of years Olaf Peterson died. We dont know what year, sometime between 1907 and 1921, perhaps around 1915. In 1921 Maria remarried a Mr Larson (also from Norway). According to a Death Certificate from the state of California (state file number: 71-118715, local registration district and certificate number: 7097-038490; her social security number is 555-12-5117), she had lived in the state of California for 55ys at the time of her death 8 of Sep 1971, which gives she could have moved to California about 1916, but at least some time between 1916 and 1921. She probably moved directly from Minnesota to the Los Angeles area, maybe from Pennington county, but we dont know for sure. Would it be possible to find Ola Peterson in some cemetery records or death record. And Ola and Maria Christina Nilsdotter/Peterson/Nes/Larsen in some (1910/1920) census in Pennington county (or elsewhere if they didnt live there)? We would be very, very glad to find any information about them. Maria was grandmother to Ninni Naes husband. Sinc, Roland Tidstrom and Ninni Naes. Hi Dennis and all, I am sorry to see you go from the Minnesota list, but you also need to get over your anger, which is in no way at all related to anyone on this list. Only you alone can figure out why you are so angry and get rid of the source. Do not take it out on others, it does not prove anything at all. If you get upset at what someone posts, write an email to the person, put it in your draft email and sleep on it. We are all on this list to help when able. After all you are searching for your family here and more then likely do not live here. But you know what? You also need to learn how to behave on a list. Emails as written are very non-emotional and can be taken either way when written or read. You should have just deleted what the person wrote in response to your post, rather then have a hissy fit online. We here in Minnesota always love to help when we are able. I sent you the the 1920 and 1930 census on your request from Motley, and you know what? He was the only person who had a garage in that town in both census that fit your criteria. I am always glad to help when I can, BUT a simple "Thank You" means a lot to us who help everyone around the world for "free" every day. Manners lately is something which appears to be lacking in Genealogy World. Guess some just think if they ask a question, someone better answer them or else. So many come with this crap "Thank you in advance", Hey, if you do not have time to "Thank me" after the fact, then do not ask to begin with your questions.....There are also many on the list who I have helped who have taken the time to write me offlist and thank me, makes us who do this for "free", much more willing to keep on doing it. Try hiring someone and see what it will cost you........... Scarlett, the List Administrator, may just well throw me off the list for my comments. You need to give a List Administrator respect, they have taken the time to take over monitoring a list and the behavior on it. I am surprised she put up with it as long as she did, I admin a few lists and would not have. :-) I am seriously considering going off this list, only because I have never seen so many people in my last 10 years online who do not have the courtesy to say "Thank You" when helped, to the person who has helped them. Responding to a person offlist puts nothing in the archives to help someone who may be searching in years to come about their family. For those who do not know, the archives for this list are here and are searchable: http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/?list=MINNESOTA If you wish to reply to someone and the Minnesota list, just hit reply all on your mail and it will go to the person and the list and archives. Just remember, if you are looking for the perfect family ancestry, then quit looking now, because you will never find it. Every family has their imperfections and I feel it adds to the family history, does not distract. Have a fine Easter with your families all. Well just when you thought you were rid of me I am baaak. You were all so helpful to me in finding my Grandfather and information on him that I wish to ask you a couple more questions. The first one is where is the best place in Sweden to ask for a copy of my Grandfathers birth certificate. His name is John August Carlson and he was born in 1847 in a place called Smaland I do believe but am not too sure about that. Also I have an address for ironrange and it is as follows: http://www.ironrangeresearchcenter.org/ but my computer keeps telling me that this is the wrong address. I want to get Naturalization Papers from them. Could someone please give me the right address. Thank you and I will try and not bother you again for a time. Annette Carlson Tucker.
Hi Annette, The site works fine for me, maybe it is your isp that is the problem?: http://www.ironrangeresearchcenter.org/ When I clicked on the site you gave in your email, it worked fine. Try joining the Sweden list, there are many helpful people on the list, some related to me thru their roots in Norway. :-) http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/SWE/SWEDEN.html Don't ever think you are a bother to the Minnesota list, we are all here to help when we are able. Please ask any questions, no matter how minute you may think they are, someone may have an answer somewhere in Minnesota. Hej Roland! Perley is in Norman County Minnesota, where I live. It is the only Perley in the State of Minnesota. I will see what I can find. Started out with: My father, who is now 80 has been reunited with an older brother who had spent decades looking for him, and has met another brother and four sisters who were not yet born when he went to the orphanage. Went to: I found your message to be both interesting and inspiring. Would love to have you post a copy of the indentured servitude. A.T. Quickly devolved to: Then the other side of the situation, is someone who will make up AND PRINT a totally different story than what actually happen, so they can feel conformable about the ancestor and their life. Lots of reasons. Don't believe everything in oral/print oral history. Followed by this piece of brilliance: "Sussane had a good point" snip And this: I think that Paddlec1@aol.com has a bad attitude towards people whom he has asked for help and then doesn't like the answer he get's, so is rude to the very same people who are trying to help him. Never even once said "Thank You"!! I think a lot of other people on this list would agree with me. Lanah I would like to recognize those who bypassed the forum and sent insults directly to me as well. I would like to give special thanks to those who posted enlightening messages about how fortunate my father was to at one time be a piece of *human property*, and how being owned by another "wasn't that bad", and how he "learned how to work". Try that one on the next black man you see. Let me know how it turns out. Seriously, I would like to thank the folks who did offer valuable assistance in my search the last two years. And anyone who would like a copy of the Contract of Indenture please feel free to e-mail me and I will get it out to you. I'm certainly not going to be a party to any forum that so carelessly flings insults. It was a bit of a slap on the face coming on the heals of the good news I had recently found, and that I shared with all of you. I wish you all well and want to leave you with this: It's your forum, if you trash it, that's what you'll have. Dennis
I believe that more than enough has been said about this subject. Any more flaming on this list and the offending party(ies) shall be removed from the list. If you chose to disagree to the extent that we have been subjected to, please do so off list. Thank you, Scarlett G. Donahue, List Administrator

Michelle, At http://people.mnhs.org/dci/Search.cfm, you will find Frank Parchem's death record listed - he died May 10, 1936 in St. Louis County (where Duluth is located). There are other Parchems shown at the site, also - Anton (2), Lena, John, and a Julia. Certificates can be ordered online or you might try calling the St. Louis County courthouse in Duluth to see if you can obtain the information by telephone. It's possible that a descendant would have signed the death certificate(s). They also have birth records at the courthouse where they could possibly look up the Parchem family for the names of their children. According to www.switchboard.com, there are seven Parchmes living in MN today. Phone numbers and addresses are shown there if you'd like to contact them. Good luck, Carole At 04:08 PM 4/6/2004, you wrote: >I've been trying to find info on Frank PARCHEM. He was born Nov. 10, 1873 >in Duluth, MI to Jacob/Anton and Juliana PARCHEM. I've been trying to find info on Frank PARCHEM. He was born Nov. 10, 1873 in Duluth, MI to Jacob/Anton and Juliana PARCHEM. His parents moved to St. Louis County, MN before 1880. Frank died around 1936 in Duluth MN. Does anyone have any information on him or his family? I've found three possible names (Lena, Helen, and Eleanor) for who he married and would like to know his children's names. I only know of John (b. 12/8/1899). Thanks, Michelle Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
