My grandfather, WILLIAM ELMER SMITH went to Windam ( unsure of spelling) in 1885. Is there a census for 1900 that might show him ? He may have been with Obadiah B SMITH. Thank you for any help. Patricia CARR McDonald pmcdonald@acun.com

Kathy, Claudia, and other helpful listers!, Claudia suggested I contact one of the volunteers at the Hennepin Co GenWeb Website. So I have sent her a request (she will look up an obit for only $3) and hopefully she can find something. As far as Interlibrary loans, we live in the country, and our little library is many miles away. But, I did just talk to them and they have one microfilm reader, so that might be an option for the summer when I have time to make the trip. Thanks for all of your help, MeLani -- If your local library has a microfilm reader, I'd try the --InterLibary loan.
Hi MeLani and listers, They do participate in InterLibrary Loan program and they will do (for fee) different searches for people. Hi Melani, Check the "Ask Ron Newspaper" database at the MN History Center: http://collections.mnhs.org/newspapers/arsearch.html It looks like they have 3 different newspapers on microfilm for Hubbard Co. in 1945. Hello Everyone; We have received a great amount of email requesting information concerning Indentured Servants and Apprentices sent to the early Colonies. It would be impossible to list the over 10,000 here so we are including an overview of the process and hope it will explain the how and why. We have titled the page Indentured Servants and Apprentices Sent to the American Colonies 1654-1686. The piece was written by Peter Wilson Coldham as an introduction to one of his excellent immigration reference works and contains much usefull information that will touch many of our lines somewhere. You will find the page located on the web site at within the Family Pages Index located at http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/families/famdex.htm On the Family Index Page enter through the link SERVANTS AND APPRENTICES SENT TO THE AMERICAN COLONIES 1654-1686. I have been searching for an obituary for my great grandmother, Martha JOHANNESSEN SOLI ESTBY (or ESBY). She was born abt 1873 in Norway and she died Dec 09, 1945 in Akeley, Hubbard Co, MN. I have already corresponded with a volunteer in Hubbard County and she could either not find the obit or the newspaper. I thought perhaps a copy might be on file at the main library in MN (Minneapolis?). If anyone can check for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Melani
Could someone please do a look-up for me in the 1885 Minnesota Cencus for a Carl Magnuson Carlson for me or tell me how I could do this. Thank you. A.T.

Hi, I just finished preparing a report for my fathers ancestry that includes his fathers side which came from Telemark and his mothers side which comes from Meraker, Nord Trondelag. If anyone is interested I would be glad to send it to you as a PDF attachment. It goes back 12 generation to 1611 so far. I just noticed I have a few pages of info to go and may be able to go back to the mid 1500's. Over the next few weeks I will add more to this report as time permits. Telemark farms are: Dalen/Fosse, Lia, Rui-Norsterud, Vreim, Bo, Haugeberg, Holla-Rinde, Orvella, Haugen, Brekka, Klevkaas, Ovebo/Bashaug and a few others. Of course most of the o's have the slash through but since my family tree program doesn't have the international keys I didn't remember which ones they were. :-) Nord Trondelag farms are: Brendmo, Solem, Haukbergmo, Nesset, Krogstad, Klokhaug, Lovli, Palsnesset, Volden, Evjen. There is a couple of names in the report that are not Norwegians but couldn't figure out how to get them out for the report but figure that someone out there in listers land may be a distant cousin. Email me privately and I will send you a report. Sue

I am looking for the name of the father of my step-grandfather. This is the only information I have. My step-grandfather is: Lionel Thomas Daly, b. 20 Nov. 1890, St. Paul. His mother was Beatrice Corcoran Daly, b. 1867, Canada. Not having his father's name is putting up a block wall for most any other type of searching that I try. Any help would certainly be appreciated. Thank you. Barb Padgette
Hello, If you had ancestors move to Warrick Co., IN you may find them buried in one of the cemeteries there. Formany years I have taken pictures in various cemeteries. I have begun to put these pictures online to share with folks. I have over 250 pictures from Maple Grove Cemetery and am adding more frequently. There are also a few pictures from some of the smaller cemeteries. Just click in the link below my name or copy and paste it to your browser. When you get to the Genealogy Resources page, click on Cemetery Photos link. I tried to keep the pages small enough to load in around one minute for 28.8 modems. There are also some Vanderburgh Co., IN and KY cemeteries posted on the site. I hope you find your ancestors grave in one of these cemeteries. If not check back often as I am adding new pages as fast as I have time. Regards, Virginia L. Aldridge Genealogy Resources http://www.genealogy-resources.net/
Dear listers, I am a descendant of Peder Brendmoe and Johanna Olsdatter who came to America in July 1871. I am not sure when they settled in Gordon twp., Todd Co., but they lived there (I think) for most of their lives. I just recently heard that they may have lived for a period of time in Big Stone prior to their death. I am not sure of this. We have not yet found where they were buried. Here is what I do know about them: Peder Ericksen BRENDMOE, born May 18, 1836 in BRENDMO, Meraker, North Trondelag, Norway; died September 26, 1918 in Gordon Twp., Todd Co., Mn. He was the son of Erick Pedersen BRENDMO and Beret Olsdatter SOLEM. He married Johanna Olsdatter October 22, 1859. (She was born 1836 somewhere near Meraker I don't have her parents name but her father died when she was very young and they moved to Stendal farm) (where were they buried) Children were as follows: Erik Pedersen BRENDMO b: Jan. 20, 1860 Meraker died Feb. 23, 1923 Douglas Co., Mn. Married Mali Halverson BESEN July 29, 1860 ( could use more info about them and their children) Brynhild Pedersdatter BRENDMO b: April 30, 1864 Meraker, North Trondelag, Norway died Dec. 27, 1946 West Union twp., Todd Co., Mn. (She went by the name of Betsy) Married Albert U. Lathrop 1881 in Todd Co., Mn. (My great grandmother) I have a list of their children and grandchildren. Erik b: 1868 Brendmo farm Meraker, North Trondelad, Norway ( know other info on him. It is possible that he died in Norway or on the voyage to America). Beret Marta born 1870 went by Mary in America. Also a census had her as Berthe Marie. (Who did she marry, was she married) Oline b: Nov. 1872 Gordon Twp., Todd Co., Minnesota married Martin Johnson b: Jan. 19, 1873 Todd Co. (have list of their children) Carl J. Brendmoe born Jan. 2, 1875. (don't know if he ever married) died Nov. 4, 1973 Douglas Co., Mn. (did he marry and if so who) Some of the family were buried in Osakis, in the Salem Church cemetery. If anyone can answere any of these questions or is a descendant of any of them I would love to hear from you and of course share info with any cousins out there. Have a great day! Susan
The Veterans Affairs Department has posted a web site listing 3.2 million burial records for American veterans buried in national cemeteries. The records date to the Civil War.
