Resent-From: NORTH-DAKOTA-L@rootsweb.com From: patrice@ndsupernet.com Subject: [NO-DAK] NORTH DAKOTA DEATH INDEX NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE THROUGH THE INTERNET Date: November 29, 2005 2:33:47 PM CST To: NORTH-DAKOTA-L@rootsweb.com There have been a few changes made to the searching capabilities since the death index was released November 7th. Check it out!! Patrice Hartman, Regent, ND NORTH DAKOTA DEATH INDEX NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE THROUGH THE INTERNET BISMARCK - Family researchers in North Dakota and beyond are now able to also access the state's death index online, thanks to the worldwide reach of the Internet. Prior to its online launch earlier this month, the state's death index was only available at the State Archives and Historical Research Library (SAHRL) at the North Dakota Heritage Center in Bismarck. The index supplies the individual's full name, date of birth (if known), date of death, county of residence and county of death. It supplements the publication, North Dakota Necrology, 1920-1926, and the obituary and death notices found in the newspaper abstract file in the SAHRL at the North Dakota Heritage Center. The time period covered in the death index is January 1, 1881 through October 31, 2005, with monthly updates. The website is maintained by the North Dakota Department of Health's Division of Vital Statistics. Many early deaths were not recorded, and there are very few deaths listed in the index prior to 1900. The death index website's address is https://secure.apps.state.nd.us/doh/certificates/deathCertSearch.htm . The website is the result of an 18-month project by a committee composed of staff from the State Historical Society of North Dakota, the North Dakota State Genealogical Society (NDSGS) and the North Dakota Department of Health's Division of Vital Statistics. The website was made possible by funding and support provided by the NDSGS, which received an initial grant of $1000 from the North Dakota Community Foundation. The NDSGS was then able to raise more than $2000 in matching funds/donations from other genealogical societies and genealogists from North Dakota and other states. Additional information about the NDSGS is available by visiting their website at www.rootsweb.com/~ndsgs/index.html. For more information about the State Historical Society of North Dakota, visit its website at www.nd.gov/hist or call the North Dakota Heritage Center at (701) 328-2666.
Hi all, Took a trip to Caledonia and looked up some records on my brickwall. Would anyone on the list know what churches there were in Houston town in 1900? I would be interested in cemeteries in the area also. My ggrandma is buried there and I checked the online records and did not see her. Perhaps she has no stone. Thanks for any help. Hello, I have written to the BLM and received a "No Record Letter " from them but given the information in the newspaper clipping that I found, It looks like he was in the home stretch ( so to speak) of receiving his final homestead papers. From the Perham Bulletin, Volume 6, Number 15 Date: April 14, 1887 First Publication April 14, 1887. Land Office At Crookston, Minn. April 8th, 1886.} Notice is hereby given that the following -named settler has filed notice of his intention to make final proof in support of his claim, and that said proof will be made before the Judge or in his absence clerk of district court. Otter Tail Co. at Fergus Falls. Minn., on June 1st, 1887, viz: John F. Sansburn, hd. ap. No. 6103, for the se ΒΌ sec. 26, twp. 137. n.rg. 36, w. He names the following witnesses to prove his continuous residence upon, and cultivation of, said land, viz: David H. Grant, S.C.Honeywell, John T. Grant. E.C. Weston, all of Paddock Minn. William Smith. Register. His father Andrew Rusk Sansburn homesteaded in the same section as did His Sister & brother-in-law Jane & John Grant ( my Great Grandparents) John Grant & his brother David are some of the witnesses for John Sansburn. I have obtained the final Homestead papers for both Andrew Sansburn & John Grant, and enjoy reading of the hard work they put into there lands. ~Claire Grant Sioux Falls SD Genealogy~ Practice of confusing the dead & irritating the living. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Hello again folks Still trying to find lost relatives in Minnesota. I now have one census which I think is the 1930 census:- 1930 US census:- Charles Swindels Myra B Swindels Lakeport, Hubbard, MN abt 1893 England Head Myra B Swindels Charles Swindels Lakeport, Hubbard, MN abt 1894 Wife Florance Swindels abt 1919 Daughter Mary Swindels abt 1921 Daughter Alice Swindels abt 1926 Daughter Dora Swindels abt 1928 Daughter Lavina Swindels abt 1923 Daughter As you can see they had 5 daughters and I think I have worked out who they married. (I'll list them below). Would love to be able to contact a living relative as all the family this side of the Atlantic seem to have lost touch. Florence married Floyd Leroy Lyman Mary married Delton Burrell Orlander Alice or Myra married Conrad Gustafson Dora or Doris married Orville Edwin Lind Lavinia married Bill Lindahl The husbands I have worked out from the obituary of Myra Gustafson who died 28.12.1999 in WILLISTON, N.D. which I found on the internet. If anyone can help me find these people or their descendants - please get in touch. Yours sincerely Sylvia Robinson nee Smith from Hyde, Cheshire, England.
It looks like the Dalby Database has been expanded. I find that even the cemetery that I researched and put information for online here: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~maggiebakke/ aspelundcemetery.html has been included without my knowledge. :-) You can check the cemeteries included below: http://www.dalbydata.com/user.php?action=codelist
I have received from the Iron Range Research Center in Chisholm MN, the "Final Papers" of my Great Grand Father, Friedrick Heuer. From: County : Renville State: Minnesota Reel # 4 Vol # F Code # 15 Page #225 It says Twentieth District Court and is dated Feb. 15, 1899. It is a single sheet, very dark but readable. I wonder where I could find a full case file on this and if they would reveal more about this elusive ancestor.............??? ~Claire Grant Sioux Falls SD Genealogy~ Practice of confusing the dead & irritating the living. --------------------------------- Yahoo! An excellent resource for Minnesota photos from all regions can be found at: http://reflections.mndigital.org/ This is an ongoing statewide project that, so far, includes more than 6,000 photos taken prior to 1909. It is my understanding that more than 50 libraries, special archives, and museums worked together to create this collection. Eventually they hope to add historical documents to the site. Definitely worth checking out! Sue
Muriel, I can testify that I have found many relatives using Automated Genealogy and transcribed a large portion of the 1901 Ontario section of the census and some of the 1911. It does work! Anyone who is looking for relatives in Canada should start there. I find it very fun to transcribe the images on that website. It's the ultimate way to repay those involved in getting the 1911 census released. Christie Alexandria, VA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Muriel M. To all:- Personally, I have many relatives in United States, plus have had many ancestors and enjoy using the 1930 census records. The 1911 Canadian Census was released on June 28, 2005 after about eight years of struggle -- with the assistance of Americans. Many are now involved in transcribing the images either in the long format or my preference, Automated Genealogy. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ For 1901 and the three-province 1906 http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html Scanned Images of 1911 Census http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1911/index-e.html Should you only wish to look, one does not need to sign in. Click on VIEW and hopefully that section might be transcribed. Should there be corrections needed, as you know them, let me know, as the proofreaders have yet to view the finished pages. One person asked if Americans were allowed to transcribe? YES -- but please sign the finished page -- do this by clicking on CLAIM PAGE after Line 50 is done. Believe it or not, all families in the TO line are part of my family. Muriel M. Hi My father's gt. uncle was Rev. Charles SWINDELLS b.1892 Stockport, England. In 1915 he emigrated to US and married Myra Miller in 1917. I believe they settled in Minnesota and had several children. Charles died in Itasca in 1993. I would love to get in touch with anyone who knows the family or the family itself.
