    3. Might I also suggest checking with the funeral home in the area? Many times those records follow new owners and if they have records, I have always found they are most happy to share . . . and sometimes I've found my best gems in the little scribbled notes in those files!! 3. Hi Sandy, I have searched through all the online databases I subscribe to, and haven't found anything definitive for you on LEITZ. My best guess is that both of Euphemia's children were either adopted by George GRAHAM, or went by his last name after the marriage. George's obituary from December 26, 1951, in the Brainerd, Minnesota, newspaper, lists step-son, W. T. GRAHAM. Euphemia's daughter was listed as Margeoria on the 1900 census, as was Euphemia's sister and mother. Also listed was her son, William LETIZ [sic]. We know William used GRAHAM as his last name by the 1910 census, and it follows that Margery would have used that name also, had she lived. I don't find an obituary for Euphemia because the August, 1950, newspapers aren't included in the NewspaperArchive.com database. (George's obit says she died in August of 1950, but doesn't give an exact date). There are several ways you can proceed with your search: Send for the death certificate for the above Margery Graham, born 1893, died May 30, 1904, in Ramsey County, MN. Find a volunteer (either from a county genweb site, or from RAOGK: Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) who can go to the Evergreen Hill cemetery in Staples, and/or look through courthouse records for the above Margery's death in 1904. William Tweedie Graham listed Minneapolis as his birth place on January 24, 1895, on his WW1 draft registration card. A volunteer could look up that birth record for you. I'll continue to dig through online resources, and will get back to you if I find anything more. 2. HI BETH, I need the first name of Euphemia's daughter. She wasn't a Graham as that is who Euphemia married in 1901. I want to find marriage certificate for Euphemia Gowan nee Tweedie, Letiz, Graham. Gowan was her mother's maiden name! Have death certificate for Euphemia, her second husband George Wallace Graham and her son who it said was a step son of Graham but he also went by the Graham name. He was William Tweedie Graham. The birth dates for Margeoria.Marjorie/ Margery was May of 1893 and William T. was born 1895 in Jan. .. They were listed as Letiz in the 1900 Federal Census, Hennepin County. I have that. That's how I knew that Euphemia was a widow by the name of Letiz. Hope I was able to make it a bit clearer. :) Thanks for ur help, Sandy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Beth Rau" <bethrau@hotmail.com> To: <minnesota@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 29, 2006 12:41 PM Subject: Re: [MINNESOTA] EVERGREEN CEMETERY IN STAPLES, MN > Hi Sandy, > > Are you looking for Euphemia's daughter's correct spelling of her name, or > the name of Euphemia's first husband, Mr. ? 3. Hi Sandy, Are you looking for Euphemia's daughter's correct spelling of her name, or the name of Euphemia's first husband, Mr. ? Leitz/Letiz? I find three separate spellings for daughter Margeoria/Marjory/Margery. Here is a link to the online Minnesota Death Index which shows Margery Graham and George W. Graham both died in Ramsey County. Included is the death certificate number for Margery, which could give her birth father's full name. I don't find a listing for Euphemia's death, and believe she may be listed under a nickname. http://people.mnhs.org/dci/search.cfm?CFID=2514739&CFTOKEN=67168341

    3. Thank you for this information. I tried to find my grandmother's father's grandfather there. There is a Lars Larsson who three times bought land in Benson, Minnesota. This is the place where he and his wifr Johanna (Andersdotter Ekstrom) and their daughter Lotta lived in Census 1870. I can't find them there later, that's why I'm a little confused. Below, I enclose a short version of what I found. Lars was born 1803 in Hol, Vastergotland, Sweden Johanna was born 1803 in Nor in Varmland, Sweden Lotta was born 1841 in Siene, Vastergotland, Sweden There was also the son Sven Larsson born 1837 in Hol, Vastergotland, Sweden. Lars, Johanna and Lotta is in Census 1870 for Benson, Swift County, Minnesota but I can't find Sven and neither of them in Census 1880. I believed Lars and Johanna died before 1880 and Lotta married and changed surname. How can I find out this? How can I find out if it's "my" LL who bought land (see below)? I'm grateful for all tips, ideas and help to find out this. I've their ancestors back to the 17th century! 3. Hi Birgitta, Are you familiar with the free genweb websites for each county in the U.S.? Volunteers post local genealogical information, and there are usually volunteers who can look up records. Here is the link to the Swift County, MN, genweb site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~mnswift/ Good luck!
