I know it is because I have the license and certificate of marriage naming the parents of Francis and Elizabeth Rogers Jeffery. They are my father-in-law's grandparents, He is in his ninetys and is interested in finding out more about his family. The Francis Jeffery actually died in 1916. I've placed him with the family in 1910 (no spouse) at that time and he was buried at an old cemetery in St. Paul which does not have his birth date. The 1910 census says he is 60 - however I can't take that as positive because his daughter's age looked to be wrong! Hi Virginia, There are many of us who have access to online history books and old newspapers, subscribe to more than one genealogy site, as well as being good at finding free online resources. I understand your father-in-law is quite elderly, so you probably would like to find out as much as possible for him, as quickly as possible. Because he is in his nineties, we should be able to find him in at least one census. If you could list any names of his family members, their approximate dates of births and deaths, and where they lived, we should be able to help you find some great information to share with him. We may even be able to find an announcement of his own birth, or an announcement about his parents' wedding. It is best to start with the living family member and work backward, to prevent any mistakes in following the wrong person. It is easy to go off on the wrong 'branch' of a family tree, researching the wrong family when there are several people with similar names and birth dates and places. If you add more info, I'll be happy to look through my databases for you. But remember, N/A only means that HEADING in not applicable for the INDEX made for that particular time period, or the information for that heading was not indexed on that particular index, not that the info is not on the original document. All the N/A means is that for that time period that information was not INDEXED, it does not mean that it is not there. The newer the indexes the more info that is placed on them to help identify the correct info, so do not pass up something that shows in the index as N/A, just realize that that * index heading* was not applicable for an index made up in that time period. Those were both in the 1900 US Federal Census for Minnesota. I am pretty sure they were two different people. Do you know anything about your Euphemia other then what has been gotten from the census records? I agree the age difference is interesting and the first names being the same with the last names nearly the same. Mother in law? Don't think so, because if Euphemia's Letiz husband was about her same age, that would put the Euphemia Leitz at about 13 when she had him. Not impossible, but..... I found in the US Federal Census in 1910, Minnesota, Ramsey Co., St.Paul Ward 11 (note on side says Dayton Avenue) William H Strader, Head, age 48, born in Iowa, parents in Pensylvania Marjorie W Strader, wife, age 30, born in Minnesota, parents Scot-English Harvey W Strader, nephew, age 28, born in Iowa as were parents William Tweedie, father in law, age 66, born in Scot-English as were parents Also US Federal Census in 1910, Minnesota, Ramsey Co., St.Paul Ward 11 is Marjorie Tweedie, mother in law, on what looks to be the last page of that section. It looks like there might be a list at the end of those that were overlooked in the other pages per the ref number 2035 on the right hand side being the same as the entries earlier of Strader, William, Marjorie, Harvey and William Tweedie. 1920 US Federal Census, Minnesota, Ramsey Co., St Paul Ward 11 has William H Strader, Head, age 60 Marjorie W Strader, wife, age 44 William Tweedie, father in law, age 76 Marjorie W Tweedie, mother in law, age 74 ***** The Minnesota Death Index, 1908-2002 shows Marjorie Waldie Tweedie death date as 23 Aug 1929 in Hennepin Co. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Virginia Patricelli" <virgpat@usfamily.net> To: <minnesota@rootsweb.com> > Is the Death Index for the period of 1916 on-line? > I have the date of Francis Jeffery who died in St. Paul on May 2, 1916 and > would like to > check to see if the birth date might be included. There are other ways to find birth information. Have you tried to find him in the 1900 US Federal census? That census includes the birth date. There are a number of Francis/Frank Jeffery listed, the following in MN and WI: Frank Jeffrey, living in Marshall, Lyon County, MN, November 1879, age 20, born in MN, father in England, mother in Canada. Living as a boarder. Frank Jeffrey, Hazel Green, Grant County, WI, living as nephew to James Harvey. Born June 1884 in Wisconsin to both parents born in Wisconsin. Attending school. Do you have more information on the person you seek? Are you trying to find a specific Frank Jeffrey and questioning if this is the correct one? There is also the World War I Draft Registration Card images, if he was within the age for registration...Unless the one you seek actually died in 1916.
the MN Death Index shows 55 Euphemia's who died in Minnesota . . . I did not check out surnames, but you might wish to peruse those . . . good luck, Jeanine ----- Original Message ----- From: "Genie" <ugna@alaska.net> To: <minnesota@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, October 08, 2006 10:53 PM Subject: Re: [MINNESOTA] EVERGREEN CEMETERY IN STAPLES, MN > Don't know if you noticed the entries in the 1900 US Federal Census, > Minnesota for a Euphemia Letiz and a Euphemia Leitz. > > One is Euphemia Letiz in Minneaplois Ward 4, Hennepin Co., Minnesota > > William Tweedie, Head, b July 1855, age 45, born in Scotland as were > parents, immigrated 1874 > Magrovia (or Margeorie) Tweedie, wife b. Okay, enough is enough. Let's just drop the chitchat, criticism, whatever and move on with our research. THANKS GENIE, GOING TO HAVE TO READ AND RE READ. KIND OF CONFUSING. THE NEWS I HAD WAS THAT SHE MARRIED GEORGE GRAHAM IN 1901 AND MOVED TO STAPLES RIGHT AWAY. THE MARRIAGE SUPPOSEDLY TOOK PLACE IN MINNEAPOLIS IN JUNE. STILL NEED TO KNOW WHAT HER HUSBAND LETIZ FIRST NAME WAS AND WHEN HE DIED. DID SEND AWAY A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO FOR MARGERY (GRAHAM) DEATH CERTIFICATE. AM FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT GEORGE DIDN'T ADOPT HER AND WILLIAM BUT FOUND THAT MARGERY DIED IN 1904 AND IS BURIED AT THE EVERGREEN CEMETERY IN STAPLES UNDER THE GRAHAM NAME. WONDER IF I'LL EVER FIND OUT ANYTHING ABOUT LETIZ HUSBAND. I HAD RESEARCHED GRAHAM BACK TO EARLY 1700'S ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT HE WASN'T A BLOOD RELATIVE. BAH HUMBUG! ANYWAY THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE NAME WAS SPELLED LEITZ AS SOMEONE SUGGESTED THAT THERE WERE SOME SPELLED THAT WAY IN MINN. BUT WE STILL HAVEN'T CONNECTED ANY OF THEM TO EUPHEMIA. YOU DID GIVE ME NEW INFO. THO AND I THANK YOU FOR THAT. SO IT'S ONE MYSTERY AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS FAMILY. WAS HOPING TO FIND A DIRECTORY LISTING PRIOR TO 1900 AS I FIGURED THAT SHE WAS MARRIED PROBABLY BEFORE MARGERY WAS BORN IN 1893 AND WAS STILL MARRIED IN 1895 WHEN WILLIAM WAS BORN AND LISTED AS A WIDOW IN 1900. I DON'T KNOW WHO EUPHEMIA LEITZ AGE 40 IN STAPLES IS. WAS THAT INFO. ALSO IN 1900. OR WAS IT LATER AS LIKE I SAID SHE DIDN'T LIVE IN STAPLES TILL 1901. SO THAT'S THE CONFUSION THERE. THAT COULD HAVE BEEN THE DEAD HUSBAND'S MOTHER?? MAYBE. ODD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE THE SAME FIRST NAME THO.
