    3. It is 1843. I guess I should wear my reading glasses more. My Great Grandfather owned a bar and they lived over it. I wondering since Vermillion is a main street maybe that is where the bar was. I have a picture of it but it is on an angle and I can't see the name. Is there any kind of records I can look up to find the name? Thanks for all the info. about Hastings. I will check out the cemetery. Lori

    3. Hi everyone, Thanks for your help. I have found the obiturary and all it says is : The funeral of Mrs. Joseph Eatherly, which took place from her late residence on Vermillion Street to Lakeside Cemetery on Sunday afternoon was largely attended. Does anyone know where Vermillion Street is? I thought it was in Hastings. I have found them in the 1880 census and they were in Hastings. She was born on Oct. 29,1943.My next step was to see if the cemetery has records. Lori

    3. There is a Vermillion Street in Hastings. It is the main drag, so to speak. I also checked for a Lakeside Cemetery, It is located in the northeastern section of Hastings. There is a website with tombstone transcriptions but I could not find your relative. The site is ... www.pressenter.com/~gregboe/Cemeteryindex.htm There is an email address at this site. Perhaps that individual knows where the records are kept. On Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at 12:26 PM, Lori P wrote: > Hi everyone, Thanks for your help. 3. I am trying to get my Great Grandmothers death cert. and the county of death is required on the application. I am not sure what county she died in. I thought it was Dakota because she lived in Hastings and is buried in Lakeside Cemetary. I checked Dakota and they did not have it. Her name is Mary Ann (Dellmore) Eatherly. She died on Nov. 24, 1882. Can anyone help me find the county? Thanks, Lori

They had a daughter in > 1950 > named Carol Thurlow was living in Alameda County, California until his death. Local county records (County Recorder http://rechart1.co.alameda.ca.us/ ) for Alameda Co, identified four documents in his name. One an Affidavit of Death filed 1/20/1983. A deed recorded 8/27/1980 in his and the name of Mary J.A. Thurlow. A reconveyance dated 8/24/1987 in his and Mary's name for property. Unfortunately, none of the documents could be obtained on line. In the name of Mary, identified as Mary Jane Alexander Kiland, were six documents, the latest filed in 1993. There were no documents under the name of Carol Kiland. But, there were numerous documents in the name of Jon P and Melissa. Being that Kiland is not a common name, Jon is "likely" to be a son. Jon P was identified as being born Nov 1956. He is identified a two addresses, Melissa only one. That joint address is 7964 Pineville Cir, Castro Valley, CA. He is also listed at 21220 Greenwood Cir, Castro Valley, CA. His phone was found to be unlisted. Here is a picture of Jon http://www.seaonc.org/pdfs/june01.pdf He appears to be a structural engineer for Dasse Design http://www.dasse.com/About/principals.html There is a contact page for letters, phone or fax. 3. Good Morning, 1) Did you try anywho.com already? I see only six Kiland listed for MN. Perhaps one of them is a cousin and could connect you up with Carol. 2) I can dig in ancestry.com a little bit for you. Looks like Thurlow was born about 1914 in Willmar, Kandiyohi, MN. I don't see Carol in the Minnesota Birth Index, 1935-2002. Are you sure she was born in MN? 3) According to the California Death Index, 1940-1997, Thurlow died in CA in 1982: KILAND, THURLOW NORMAN 25 Oct 1982 ALAMEDA MALE 2 Aug 1913 MINNESOTA JOHANSON 4) I don't see Carol listed in the Ancestry World Family Trees. Several entried are marked "Kiland, Living." But it looks like the KILAND name is from Norway, Telemark, Fyresdal. One of the Kiland entries is linked to this site: http://home.no.net/tkah/ 5) A really quick google search of "Carol Kiland" shows only eight hits. One of them shows a Carol Kiland that married and man named Terry Howard and had two children; Melissa Jane Howard and Jacob Thurlow Howard. I couldn't really say if this is the same Carol, but I suspect it is. The Google description says "Pedigree for Jacob Thurlow Howard," but there's no such designation on this "privatized" page: http://peckfam.org/ultraped.php?personID=I8757&tree=Complete&generations= Looks like you would want to e-mail dshoward@usa.net for more information. 6) Carol might have been in or near Hermosa Beach, CA as of 1997: http://www.hermosabch.org/departments/cityclerk/agenmin/1h-81297.html Kathy Cathie Nelson wrote: > > Good Morning! > Wondering if SKS would see if there is any information on Thurlow Norman Kiland on ancestry.com, genealogy.com or heritage quest? 1. Dakota/Sioux/Santee Indians (Sisseton - Wapeton Tribe) MN, SD, ND, NE ?
    2. Hi List Members, Looking for census or any info on a Sisseton/Wahpeton Indian, Christian name Joseph Samuel, Indian name unknown. In 1914 my great-great grandmother Rosalie M. Laramie/McCoy and her sister Josephine Laramie/Seaman received a letter of being the only heirs to Joseph Samuel, Santee Indian. The letter says Joseph Samuel is their cousin. According to records the letter went through three offices; 1.Winnebago Indian Agency, Nebraska 2.Santee Indian School, Nebraska and 3.Pipestone Indian School, MN. Rosalie`s mother (Tateduta/ MaryRedIron/ RedWind) was from Chief Mazasha`s/ Red Iron`s tribe, that was in southern MN, they grew up near Traverse Des Sioux/ St. Peter, MN. So I don`t know if Joseph Samuel was at a reservation in Nebraska, Sisseton SD, Wahpeton ND, Pipestone Mn, or where he was. I don`t know who his parents were, his b.?, or his d.? I couldn`t find him on the 1880 census, sorry not a lot to go on. Any ideas or help appreciated. thanks Patrick

    2. Michael StGeorge
    3. Dear Fellow Genealogists, I descend from a large St. George family that settled in Duluth, Minnesota in about 1881. There are several other St. George families that lived in Minnesota during the 19th century, but none of them appear to be related. I have a slowly evolving web page devoted to research of all of these families at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~mstgeorge/ I am seeking candidates to participate in a genealogical DNA study for the following surnames: ST. GEORGE, ST. JORRE, LAPORTE, SERGERIE If you are a descendant of any of these families, whether out of France, Quebec, or the UK, you may find this project very helpful in researching your family. Please contact me privately if you would like to know more. Or if you know someone descended from one of these families, please pass this message along. Please write to: genealogy DOT stg AT gmail DOT com Sincerely, Michael StGeorge
