Military Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, MI, March 30, 1945, Page 1 Private McNitt Killed in France Pfc. Donald E. McNitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McNitt, 1957 Terrace street, was killed in action in France on March 15, a War department message informed his parents Thursday. He was 20 years old. Private McNitt entered the Army in February, 1943, at Camp Grant, Ill. and received his basic training at Ft. Bliss, Tex. He then took anti-aircraft training at Camp Davis, N. C. and Camp Haan, Calif. Later he was transferred to Camp Livingston, La. and assigned to the infantry. He left Ft. Meade, Md. for overseas, Jan. 30, 1945. Graduated by Muskegon High school, Donald was employed part time by the A and P in Muskegon Heights. Besides his parents, the relatives are two brothers, Dan McNitt, S.S.L.M. 2/c, overseas with the Navy and Robert at home; four sisters, Mrs. Nathan Rewalt, Big Springs Tex., Mrs. Raymond Neuman, Ruth and Doris, all at home and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Lane and Mrs. Mary Dahl, all of Ravenna. I am sorry but this is the extent of the account as it appeared in the paper of the time. It doesn't say where in France the event took place.
