Since then I've moved and haven't had much time for my genealogy work. Due to a new post I got back in today and saw this post of yours. It finally ties together my family (my Great Grandfather Pieter Vanderlaan, father Jan Edzes), with Simon/Siemon, Pieter's younger brother. Pieter was born 1848, died before 1906. Then at least two of his sons came to the U.S. including my grandfather Harry Vanderlaan. It appears that Siemon took his own route to the U.S. but both Siemon's family and Pieter's family ended up near Muskegon, Michigan. Thanks for making this tie for me!
