If this is the Dr. Swartout I remember he was the heard of the Muskegon County Health Dept. in the late 30's. I remember him because I was a typhoid victim back in 1937 and he came to our home on a regular basis. Back then they slapped big red signs on all four sides of the house warning people away because there was typhoid in the home.
