(aka Hurlbert) b c1820 NY, d 10 Dec 1894 Montague of heart disease, age 74-0-0, widower (MDR 2-157), bu Montague cemetery gr 4-5 (CRMCM). Md Eliza Rheando, d Nov 1890. Ch seven sons; four daughters, three deceased. (WF Dec 13, 1894) Isaac Hulbert served as a private in Co C, 16 NEW YORK Heavy Artillery. He enlisted 15 Jan 1864 and was discharged 16 June 1865. He served 17 months and was suffering with piles in 1890. (1890 p17) Hulbert moved to Montague in 1866, settling in section 29, Maple Grove, the corner of Whitbeck and Anderson streets, which became known as Hulbert's corner. He was a farmer. Local tradition noted an old cemetery was at this corner, where all the tombstones had Hulbert on the stones. Isaac's wife and three daughters preceded him in death and are not recorded in Montague cemetery. Isaac was granted an original pension 26 July 1886 and was receiving a pension of $12 a month at his death. (PI, WF Dec 13, 1894). He was not a member of the local GAR. See, also, William Henry Hulbert, son of Isaac and Eliza. Also, another Isaac Hulbert, probably not directly related.
