ELLIOTT, HERE 50 YEARS DIES William Melvin Elliott, 76 years old, 21 Myrtle street died early Sunday at the residence. He was born May 2, 1857 in Ontario, coming to the United States with his parents when a child, settling in Wisconsin, where he lived for three years before returning to Canada. He again came to the United States 50 years ago, settling in Muskegon, where he lived until his death. He was a painter and a decorator and leaves his widow, two stepsons, Roy Peltier, Muskegon, Leonard Peltier, Chicago, two brothers, Charles Elliott, Muskegon township and Frank Elliott, Muskegon. Obituary Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, MI, Monday, August 19, 1935, page 2 Man, 67, Is Found Drowned in Lake George F. Elliott, 67 years old, for many years a resident of the city, was found drowned in Muskegon lake early Sunday morning behind the Pere Marquette roundhouse. His head and shoulders were resting in about six inches of water. Mr. Elliott was found by George Dunlap who reported to the police. Coroner Harold Wood who investigated said that apparently the man had been walking along the edge of the water and either stumbled and fell or had gone to the edge to wash his face and hands and lost his balance. Because of his advanced age he could not rise. He had been dead about eight hours. The victim is survived by his brother, Charles W. of route 4. He was unmarried and made his home at the Rescue Mission. Born in St. Catherine, Ont. Feb. 1, 1868, Mr. Elliott has resided in this city since he was 15 years old. The body was removed to the Balbirnie Mansion. ELLIOTT, (Mrs. William) Laura Louise Obituary Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, MI, Saturday, October 21, 1933, page 2 MRS. LAURA ELLIOTT, 75, DIES AT SON’S HOME Mrs. Laura Louise Elliott, 75 years old, widow of William Elliott, died at the home of her son, Roy Edmund Peltier, 1644 McIlwraith street Friday after a lingering illness. She was born November 30, 1858 in Ohio, coming to Muskegon with her parents when four years of age, where she resided until her death. She was married to William Elliott in 1895 at Muskegon. Mr. Elliott died July 2, 1933. She leaves two sons, Leonard Peltier, Muskegon, two brothers, John Mann of Chicago and William Hanks of Chicago and two grandchildren. (Note: name of second son did not appear in obituary). ELLIOTT, (Mrs. Charles W.) Obituary Muskegon Chronicle, Muskegon, MI, Tuesday, November 17, 1908, page 1 INVALID FOR YEARS Death of Mrs. C. W. Elliott After Long Illness After having been an invalid for nearly fifteen years Mr. Charles W. Elliott, 210 Apple street, died at 11:30 today. Mrs. Elliott was born in Cleveland, Ohio fifty years ago and in 1881 was married to Mr. Elliott, coming to Muskegon the next year. Excepting one year spent in Denver, Colorado, she has lived in this city continuously since then. She is survived by her husband and one son, Harry Elliott, employed in the Chronicle office. Two brothers and three sisters reside in New York state. While able to be about, Mrs. Elliott attended the Wood avenue Methodist Episcopal church. She was a charter member of Gem Rebekah lodge No. 124. The funeral will be Friday afternoon from the Wood avenue Methodist Episcopal church. Note: The original does refer to “Mr.” Elliott.
