I believe Charles W. was the son of Charles F. MALLOCH/K. The initial W. showed up in the 1920 census: > 1920 MALLOCK CHARLES W Delta County MI Escanaba 57-9 > Charles W Mallock Head WM 51 M PA US US Cashier Bank > Hilda Wife WF 46 M GER GER GER I guess even then there was more money to be made working at the bank than from teaching. I wonder how long he tried to be a teacher. I have the following for Aurelia: > 1920 MALLOCK AURELIA Kent County MI Grand Rapids 71-6 > Aurelia Mallock Head WF 44 S MI ME NJ Manager Kentling Mill > Mave McLinn Protégé WF 12 S US US US > ******* > California Death Index: > MALLOCH AURELIA 07/14/1875 (mother)BAUM F MICHIGAN LOS ANGELES(70) > 01/03/1960 84 yrs > ********* > Michigan Baptisms, http://www.rootsweb.com/~mimcgs/baptismsmno.htm > Malloch Aurelia > 1882 May 28 1875 Jul 14 Muskegon Charles F Malloch & Sarah E Baum I wonder what was meant by the term 'Protégé'? There is a William Fuller MALLOCH in the CA Death Index who was born in MI with his father's surname WILLIAMS and mother's surname McGINN. McGINN... McLINN... hmmm. How did he become a MALLOCH? The wife of Charles MALLOCH, Sr. died in 1912 and was buried in the Evergreen Cem., City of Muskegon, along with a daughter who died in 1876, available through Muskegon's online databases. > EVERGREEN CEMETERY, City of Muskegon, MI > BIRTH BURIAL INFORMATION > LAST NAME FIRST NAME MISC. INFO GRAVE LOCATION Birth YEAR Death MONTH DAY YEAR > > Malloch Alice L. 1 2/2/05 1867 1876 > Malloch Sarah E. 2 2/2/05 1841 11 24 1912 Would the Evergreen cemetery book give more info? Sometime after 1912 Charles F. MALLOCH, Sr went west and made his next appearance in Montana in 1920 with a new younger wife Carrie C. Carrie C. MALLOCH was in Los Angeles, alone, in 1930. She too shows up in the CA Death Index and in the SSDI, dying in 1968. So it would seem that Charles MALLOCH, Sr. may have died in Montana. Would love to find his death record in the slight hope that someone knew his parents, but I wouldn't be surprised if the record showed 'names unknown'. Every answer in genealogy leads to more questions!!
