Muskegon, MI Mrs. Helen M. Hawks, age 98, joined her husband and daughter at the feet of Jesus, Thursday evening, August 19, 2004. She was born July 6, 1906 in Paw Paw, MI to Birt and Grace (Stanton) Adriance and settled in Windsor, NY. Helen was a graduate of the University of Michigan and also attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She married Dr. William S. Hawks, D.D. in Paw Paw on August 27, 1933 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Helen taught English Literature and Latin for 25 years before leaving for East Africa in 1965 where, along with her husband, they founded the Bible College of East Africa. There she continued her teaching career. In 1979, they moved to Muskegon where her husband was pastor of the Bible Presbyterian Church. SURVIVORS: 3 daughters, Priscilla (Dr. Harold) Vankley of Palos Hills, IL, Phyllis (Kelt) Davies of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Mary (Rev. Thomas) May of South Amboy, NJ; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchil! dren. Helen was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia, 1 brother and 4 sisters. The Funeral Funeral Service will be held Monday 11 A.M. at Covey Hill Baptist Church near Paw Paw, MI. Rev. Buzz Cliffe presiding. Visitation Today 2-4 P.M. at the Lee Funeral Home, 2812 Fifth St., Muskegon Hts., MI 49444. Interment Covey Hill Cemetery. Memorials Bible College of East Africa.
