Actually, a cousin found some info that suggests he died in Wisconsin in a jail cell. One of the Smith relative's came to my dad's house in the 1940's or so.. and gave dad a family tree. My dad is now 91, still alive, same house. Lydia was Ottawa Indian. from denice

Boy this sounds interesting. Do you know any more about this Smith? There are Smith's that I have found from the area.
