It is like they never existed. Dad's grandmother was not even in some records, but the lady with the same name (Sarah Robinson) was because her husband was the lighthouse caretaker. Plus, dad's grandmother was part Indian, so many wanted to bury Indian history at the time & forget about her existance. Same with a commemorative rock at the Montague side of the White Lake Channel: It has names of people that lived there AFTER my dad's family. My dad's grandfather had a ferry boat business there & fishery BEFORE the persons listed on the rock. No one acknowledges that & some say it is because he married an Indian female & so did his brother. There was a life saving station there that my dad's dad worked at. There should be a plaque with the names of the men who served there! And info about that station! Info has disappeared, inc! luding a certain drowning there approx 1914 of W. Zeigler whose wife & daughter lived in Bemidge, MN. Sorry if I offended any of the people who compiled the records years ago. I know they should be thanked for all they did do, as it most likely was very tedious.
