Augusta COLEMAN was born at North Hausen in Hartz, Germany 1842. She was united in marriage to August LAUTERBERG in 1865 and migrated to this section of America in 1867 and has lived here about sixty years, except for a short period when they resided in Wisconsin. Mrs. LAUTERBERG was one of the original pioneers of this community, experiencing the activity of the lumbering days and early farm development. Welcoming first the railroad, schools, telephones, automobiles, paved highways and electricity, knowing these all meant progression. She was a devoted christian being a faithful attendent of Methodist E. Church. Those left to mourn to her loss are two daughters, Mrs. Wm. ROELL of Cadillac, Mrs. George BUTTLEMAN of Claybanks; three sons, Henry of Carlock, Charles of Whitehall and August of Claybanks; thirteen grand children and ten great grand children, besides a wide circle of friends. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Montague M.E. Church, Rev. Wilfred Eley officiating. Burial took place in the Oakhurst Cemetery, Whitehall. ****************** NOTE: This handwritten obituary was found in an old cigar box. I probably attained it at an auction, but I no longer recall. Using Augusta's birth year, her age at death and the 10,000-year calendar found at http://www.calendarhome.com/tyc/original.html, I discovered she died July 8, 1928. And using her age at death (years, months & days) and the birth date calculator found at http://www.angelfire.com/va/ValsGenealogyPage/Calculator.html, I came up with Augusta's birth date as being December 23, 1842.
