    3. Barb Fred, we always knew him as Doc, was a great football player in his college days. He lettered at Illinois, Chicago, Michigan and I think Michigan State. He was a heavy smoker (Pall Malls) and I was always fascinated watching the ash grow and grow. The cig never left his lips and It never seemed to fall off until Doc put the stub down in the ash tray. Doc was what you call "rotund". His favorite place was a couch on the enclosed front porch of his home on Ruddiman in N.M. You'd see him lying there with that ever present cig dangling from his lips. He was an avid supporter of all sports and he would tape you up and treat all kinds of injuries received in whatever the game was. AND he never charged any of us a penny! My best memory of Doc, other than the fact he always tipped me when I was his paperboy, was the fact he always took one football player to Michigan State games if they had had a good game on Friday night. I was lucky enough to get to two games because of that. It was also great to ride in that big Buick of his. Doc and Margaret were childless. May they both rest in peace. Do you know if Fred and Margaret had any children. Freds' mother was my Ggrandmothers half sister. I have very little information on the whole family of James and Johanna Farquharson other than census reports and things like that. Barb Smith

McNitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McNitt, 1957 Terrace street, was killed in action in France on March 15, a War department message informed his parents Thursday. He was 20 years old. Private McNitt entered the Army in February, 1943, at Camp Grant, Ill. and received his basic training at Ft. Bliss, Tex. He then took anti-aircraft training at Camp Davis, N. One of their children was Lucille Margaret Murray who was my grandmother. I am only beginning to research the Murray's and have limited information. I have received several comments on my ancestry.com tree from jcmclean175 who referred me to this message board. Among other things I've learned from these comments is that George R. Murray's wife was Margaret Slaven, not Margaret McLean. I'd be pleased to share what I have and am eager to learn more about George R's ancestors as well as the Slavens.
