I found that the Norman Davis you seek is listed on the Social Security Death Index, same birthdate, died Jan 1984 in Marion county IN. You may want to post a message on that message board also, and give the death date and request for someone to search for the obituary. It would be worthwhile for you to send for his Social Security application, which should tell you his parents' names, including his mom's maiden name. She later married a Harry Barber and lived in Toledo, Ohio. They never had any children. Is James still alive? Esther is my late father's sister. She was 94 last March 1.
