She was born November 14, 1916, in Lansing, MI, to John and Mary (Kobryznski) Galka. One evening, while growing up in Grand Rapids, she went on a blind date with Bert Kunish, and the couple fell in love and were married on May 25, 1946. Helen was always very involved with St. Jean's Church and the school. For several years she worked at Ryke's bakery in Muskegon, but was well known for her cake decorating outside the bakery. Helen always strived to do what was best for her husband and children. Her family includes her children, Kathleen and Mike Patton of Galesburg, and Dan and Debby Kunish of Elizabethtown, PA; and grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Sarah, Emily, Laura and Amy. Helen died at the Laurels of Galesburg on January 13, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in 1991. Friends may visit with her family from 10 -11 a.m. on January 31, 2004, at St. Jean's Catholic Church in Muske! gon, where a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Funeral arrangements are with the Life Story Funeral Home- Rupert, Durham, Marshall, & Gren, Plainwell Chapel. Dear bfekken, There are many Lohmans still in the Montague area. Also, Claybanks Twp. is on the southern border of Oceana County, so it is possible that some of your Lohman B-M-D info might be on record with the Oceana County Clerk, in Hart, MI. There are two township owned cemeteries in Claybanks and four church owned cemeteries. The new Hart Public Library opened a week ago. I just sent for a look on Peter Olsen I should of included the name of Johan Olsen. They were brothers coming over from Norway together. Johan was b. 2 Oct. 1858. Johan is listed 5 times. I am also still looking for the emigration of his wife Elise Mathilda Johansdatter. Johan and Elise were m. 1888 in Mi. Not sure if Muskegon or where. Thanks for all your help. I am looking for a Peter Christian Olsen that was in Muskegon for a short period of time and then left for Washington state. Peter b. 22 Oct. 1847 in Norway.
