    2. Mj Stelmach Honner
    3. Hello all - I am new to the Muskegon list, so I'll just begin with my Muskegon surnames: HONNER, HONOR, PETT, RUDDIMAN, TORRENT, STEVER... mid-1800s through the present. If any of these ring a bell with you, they will belong in my family tree! 3 HONNER/HONOR girls married 3 PETT boys. I'm most interested in finding out more about Annie Caroline HONNER and John TORRENT (lumberman, Mayor of Muskegon). Also Dorcus (went by Dora, I hear) Walton HONOR (born HONNER) who married George Gordon RUDDIMAN (lumberman). And their families. Any info appreciated! And hoping to find a cousin or two!! Best to you all, Maryjane Honner

    2. The newspaper gave detailed accounts of aviation events but it would help if dates were known and the search would be very simple to get written reports if dates were available. The Muskegon County Museum is another possible source. Several years ago I donated a handful of airline time tables related to Muskegon service - especially the short-lived airlines. The Muskegon Chronicle operates their own private library on the second floor of their office building in downtown Muskegon - I don't know what they are willing to allow, however. Finally, Hackley Public Library would have some resources, indexes, maybe pictures? If there is some way I can help, I would be happy to do so. I have the 1976 airport book and appreciate having it. My main transportation interest is railroads, and I occasionally run across airport articles as I search newspaper microfilm. Bill Moore Muskegon County Genealogical Resource Center

    3. The big reason I inquired on this site was that I recently recieved a large quantity of pictures from 1945-1951. The person that took the photo was an airport employee during that time. Ironically, I found while looking at the pictures that one of my great Aunts was good friends with her and she is in many of the photos. It is nice to see a large amount of my family history in photos taken by someone else. There are many names mentioned and people photographed. If you have relatives in the area with the following names, I have pictures of them: Bill Esler, Eula Alger, Marion Christiansen(Gucas), Travis, Sinnie Sinclair, Betty Parmenter(sp?), Misc. photos of mechanics, pilots, and a guy that appears to be a mystery, Jimmie Desanto. I would like to find out more information on him. He was a pilot and local air racer. He was sponsored by local businesses that bought an aircraft for him to race at the Cleveland Air Races in 1946. Any information him or any of the other people would be greatly appreciated. Additional photos would be great also. Thanks, Ken --- [email protected] wrote: > The newspaper gave detailed accounts of aviation > events but it would help if dates were known and the > search would be very simple to get written reports > if dates were available. > > The Muskegon County Museum is another possible > source. Someone asked if the newspapers being scanned would have to be viewed through a subscription program. The answer is no no no no no. I have found some use in those services like viewing census records but I fully believe in FREE and sharing with everyone! I was, and still may, put them on Rootsweb. When I found the Making of Modern Michigan project, part of the project is that they will do the web hosting. When the first ones go on line, I will let everyone know where to find them! 3. Hello Janet, Thanks for responding. I also have some photos of Cicero Field in Chicago. The airport no longer exists, and apparently was located near downtown. If you have airport photos, I may be able to tell you which airport they were taken at. Did you Grandmother have a pilot log book? That would give some information on where she took lessons and which airports she flew to. Thanks, Ken Price __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. I have a photo of an airport back home in Ludington, Michigan in my collection of photos from my grandmother. She lived in Muskegon in the early 1900's, divorced and returned to the Chicago area. She then became a private pilot, so I am not sure what airport is shown. Will not be returning home very soon, my husband was diagnosed with locally advanced cancer ( bad outlook) and we are with my daughter in Keller, Texas. If I find a copy with the papers I brought for review, I will send one to you. 3. Hello, I am not sure if this is the right forum to request help, but here is what I am in need of. I am the third generation in my family working at the Muskegon County airport and am trying to gather as much history and photos of the airport. My great Aunt put together the book, "History of the Muskegon County Airport 1976". I am trying to put together a "Photo History of the Muskegon Airport". I am trying to gather as many photos and stories behind the photos to put in this book. I am hoping that others on this list may have family members involved with the airport or at least may have some older photos of the airport. I would like to preserve the history of the Muskegon Airports(there were more than one) and also the people involved with them. I am not putting this book together for profit but just to preserve Muskegon's aviation history. If you have any information or photos, I would love to hear from you. 1. [MIMUSKEG] Questions on searching in Muskegon.
    2. Hi All: A friend of mine from the Netherlands is searching for a Cornelis de Man, born Jul 24, 1886, wife Rijktje van den Berg, born May 24, 1889 and son Jan Maarten, born Mar 27, 1911. The son is born in Muskegon, while the parents were born in the Netherlands. I'm a bit at a loss of how to help him. Are there registries in Muskegon I could visit? (I live in Grand Rapids, so getting there is no problem), civil or religious? I imagine the family was Dutch Reformed. Thank you for getting me going in the right direction.
