Also, if you type in Douglas Malloch on the internet, you will find many of his poems and articles. He was quite a wit, sometimes compared to Will Rogers. Jim

    3. The Muskegon County Museum has an archives which may contain information about this area. I was able to place where my great, great grandfather and grandmother lived on East Muskegon Avenue, even though the house and that part of Muskegon Avenue no longer exist. Give them a call and set up an appointment. The archives is above the Muskegon Merchantile store, so it is separate from the Museum. Jim

    1. Margaret Ruth Gabriel
    2. James Snyder
    3. Margaret was born 8/1/1909 in Michigan. Her father was Alex Gabriel. From Margaret's death certificate (9/24/98) Margaret's mother's maiden name was listed as Petrotz. I cannot find any reference to either surname in Muskegon County. I do have a postcard dated 9/6/1910 addressed to Alex Gabriel at PO Box 138 in Muskegon,Michigan. I suspect he/they lived or boarded in the County. I would like to confirm the Petrotz name (it may be a phoenetic version/similar) and Margaret's birth. Could somone please help me, perhaps check at the library.. Thanks.

    2. Norma Brown
    3. The MI Death Index, 1867-1897, shows that Alice MALLOCH, d/o Chas and Elizabeth MALLOCH, drowned 9 Aug 1876. Alice was 9 years old. The circumstances, plus her young age, might have been a good reason for an accidental death report to be printed in a Muskegon newspaper. How many newspapers served Muskegon in 1876 and have they been indexed for vital statistics? In the hope that it might contain more than just the name and date, can Alice's death/obit be found? Also the Evergreen cemetery records, Muskegon, show that Alice and her mother Sarah E. Malloch shared a plot. Sarah E. Malloch's date of death in the cemetery's records was 24 Nov 1912. Can her obit be found? I want to publicly say a big thank you to those on this list who have responded to my earlier queries re C. F. Malloch's family. Your generosity is amazing. I am also impressed with the number of resources that are on-line in MI. Norma Nepean, ON

My great Grandmothers sister was named Martha Bull. Martha was married to John G. Bolt. Both are buried in the Seamans cemetery. I would really be interested in the Bolt connection as it may give us clues as to why my Great grandmother collected all the Fulkerson obits. Alta was born 24 Aug 1895 in OH and died 02 Jul 1936 in Muskegon, Muskegon Co., MI. I found them in the 1930 Muskegon Co. Census with 4 children age 3 mo. to 5 yrs. John Wesley was the youngest brother of my grandmother, Mary Cecelia SCHIEBER SCANTLEN. The story in our family is that Alta died giving birth to her 9th child. The male child died too. When she died, John put all the children in foster homes. At that time the oldest was 11 yrs. and the youngest was 3 yrs. I have been in contact with a descendant of the youngest, Jacob Fred. He kept the name SCHIEBER. Children of John W. and Alta Fay: 1.) Raymond: b. 01 Apr 1925 2.) Harold: (twin of Harriet) b. 03 Aug 1926 d. 03 Aug 1926 3.) Harriet: b. 03 Aug 1926 4.) Baby Boy: b. 02 Jul 1936 d. 02 Jul 1936 As far as I can tell all the children were born in MI, probably Muskegon CO. I need birth records, death records, obituaries, etc. If anyone knows what happened to any of these children, I would appreciate you letting me know. This branch of my family has been a mystery. I will gladly share information that I have. Thank you for your help in my research. Nancy Ritter Rau Bunn, NC www.raufamily.net
