As I never saw them even though I was in high school or possibly college when they both died in their fifties several decades ago. Both their parents survived them. At least one of the sons must have had children since My Aunt''s body was discovered in the basement of her house by her adult grandchildren several days after she died . My Aunt survived my father who died in April 1985 by about 6 months and was 84 years old at the time of her death. I don't know whether the house she then owned was the same one that I recall on grade school family visits. uncle John was a WWI doughboy and raised bees near some airport when I was a kid. I believe their home either original or at time of death was in Hesperia but iI may have that confused with my half sister Norma who now is an old lady in Muskegon. If the Reynolds family still owns Muskegon Trucking, they the descendants of my Aunt Grace and Uncle Leo may know more as Grace was the blood cousin and step sister of my father and his sister Stella.

    1. Re: [MIMUSKEG] Oakwood Cemetery Info
    2. I hope that you found your relative's grave in Oakwood. Many of the sections are numbered on the curb and also give the range, but I noticed today that the numbers only go to 22, as there are no curbs in the remaining part where number 23 would be. I told you that I finally found where my uncle's mother was buried, but interestingly she is not buried under the McElfish name, but Middaugh, which was the name of her first husband. He provided the headstone, which he shares with her and she is buried in the Middaugh family plot. Jim McElfish

    2. Just to add this; I use the library facilities all the time and the staff, both paid and volunteer are more than happy to help you with your genealogical research. Most of the researchers there will help you out, also. In addition to the county clerk's office, check the circuit court office for divorce and criminal records, some dating back into the 19th century.

    2. The only place I can think to check is the Muskegon County Museum Archives, located above the Muskegon Merchantile. This is the gift shop for the Museum. You will have to call the Museum to get an appointment, but it could be well worth your time. Balbirnie-Apostle went out of business years ago, although I remember them when I was a kid, since the funeral homes all had ambulances. Try the archives. Jim

The lady in there will help you locate the gravesite and give you a map. Ask what people are buried around where the gravesite is and that will help you. There may not be a headstone, as many people just did not have one. I believe #2 is right off Nims, most likely the 2nd drive. Go straight ahead (south) on the main cemetery road almost to the end. The grave will most likely be on the left hand side of the road and #20 is probably about 75 feet in. Again, the best bet is to find out who is buried around the grave. Jim McElfish
