Hi List, I have a newspaper clipping that reads MIMS FAMILY FINDS HISTORY IN BIBLE (The Associated Press) Baton Rouge, La., Jan 14 --The war--and "hands across the sea" have given to one Louisiana seaman a 400 year old family Bible he never expected to see. When Brooks Mims Talton, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Talton of Minden, La., was in England recently he found the Bible while digging around in the "old documents" section of His Majesty's Library. History of the Mims family, who lived on the Mims river in Mims, Middlesex, England was written on the fly leaves. Talton, a radio operator in the merchant marine, was presented the family document by the library. Does anyone know of the whereabouts of this "family document"? There is no date other than Jan 14 and the clipping is glued onto an old scrapbook page with other clipping on the back side. I have not tried to remove the clipping to see what is on the back side for fear of damaging the clipping. I am not even sure of which newspaper this written. This "family document" may provide some answers to our questions or at least possibly give clues as to who came over to the U.S. and when. Anyone going to England anytime soon may want to ask around about this. Unfortunately I haven't the time nor resources to go myself. Jim Mims Houston, TX
