T. S. Mims passed away Nov. 9, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. Funeral Nov. 13 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Burial will follow at Mission Burial Park North. Visitation will begin at 5 pm. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the funeral home. T.S. was born Oct 8, 1924, in Cego, Texas. He was a resident of Waco, Texas for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Mims in 2000; sisters, Ocie Ann Jacks and Marie Ledbetter; and brothers Roy and Leo Ledbetter. Survivors include his mother Ocie Ledbetter; daughters, Virgie Ann Maxwell, Deborah L. Dixon and husband, Lee; sons, Tommy E. Mims and wife Jackie, Bill Hall and wife, Clara; sisters; Sylvia Kirton and Linda Wallis; brothers, Guy Mims, Rodney Mims, G. L. Ledbetter and Melvin Ledgetter. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, greaat-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Thomas S. Mims is a descendent of William Riley Mims and Martha Ann Pharr. Martha Pharr Mims came to Texas with her daughter Joseph Ann Mims Watson and son-in-law Andrew Jackson Watson in approximately 1890. Thomas Mims and his family also came about this time. He and Joseph Ann Mims were brother and sister. I descend from Andrew Jackson Watson and Joseph Ann Mims Watson. I will be happy to help anyone on this family line of Mims. Billie Watson Brem
Dear Billie, thank you so much for posting the obituary of T. S. Mims. The names are all very familiar. Do know if Thomas's family was ever in southern Alabama...Butler, Monroe or Baldwin Counties? I even have Pharrs that married into the Cone family which I have connected to the Mims line that I research. They are way out on a limb for me, but I knew so many of them in Monroeville, Alabama, that I am very interested in the family. The earliest Mims I have is also a Thomas Mims, born in April 1681. I have the info below that was on this List at one time. Any info will be appreciated.
