From the info I have on Samuel Mims born abt 1832 in Brazoria, Brazoria County, Texas and died at the battle of Murfreesboro, TN his father was Joseph Mims and his mother was Sarah Weekley Mims both from Alabama and both died in Brazoria County, Texas. A descendant of Joseph and Sarah's has told me that a slave walked his sword back to Texas and told them of his death. This descendant still has the sword. Jim Mims Houston, TX
