Claim: Right to 174 acres by virture of British grant. located 80 miles from Mobile, in county of Washington..on river Alabama...is claimed by Samuel Mims....dated Mar 31,1804 FLAGS OF THE 28TH ALABAMA VOLUNTEERS PG 23/ODOM LIBRARY,MOULTRIE,GA. "The flag was being held by George Mims, the color bearer, on the day it was captured. Mims was from Selma,Ala and a member of Company I of the 28th. He was also captured and sent to Rock Island Prison Hospital. He escaped from Rock Island but no records exist of his life after escape.... THOSE GALLANT MEN, PG 304 Mims,George A. (Sgt) Enlisted at age 19. In hand of the enemy after escaping from Rock Island Hospital. Mims,Joseph A. (2nd Lt) Enlisted in Selma,Ala on March 10,1862. On detached service Oct,1862 to go for clothing for company. Was at mcFarland Springs,Tn in August of 1863. In field near Atlanta Aug 18,1864. On inspection report of the 10th S.C.Regiment, 19th SC,24th Ala,28th Ala and 34th Ala. Was abset on conscript duty with General Pillows Mar 21,1863. Wounded near Atlanta.
