    1. [MIMS] Mims name!
    2. Steve: In my search I found this info on the Mims name. The surname Mims is of English origin. It is derived from Mims which is the name of places both in Hertfordshire and Middlesex. In general, a local name was either assumed by an individual from the patrimonial estate, if he held land, or was bestowed by others on whose place of residence or birth it was and who had subsequently moved. Thus the surname simply denotes one who came from Mimms. The meaning of the placename is unknown although one suggested derivation is from the early tribal or folk name Mimmas. An official survey carried out in 1984 estimated that there were 26,267 bearers of the surname Mims in the US at that time. The form Mimms was rarely encountered. I got this info in a shopping mall from a guy that used a computer to find your family Coat of Arms. So you can take it for what it's worth. Roy Mims, San Diego, Ca.
