Dear List, I am sending my information on my Roberts Line. Jackson Roberts is the father of Lucinda. Lucinda married my William Mimbs. FIRST GENERATION 1. Jackson ROBERTS was born about 1820 in GA. He was a Farmer. Jackson is listed in the 1850 Lee County, GA Census. Oral tradition and census records show that Jackson and Frances had 5 girls. Their married names were: Lucinda "Cindy" Mimbs Arminda "Mindy" Whidden Malinda "Lindy" Smith Laura A. "Mandy" Whidden Frances "Fanny" Thomas These sisters are all pictured together ca. 1910. The Bible of Noah Webster Whidden (Jackson's Grandson) lists the sisters as Amanda, Fannie, Mindie, Lindie, Sindy. Jackson was married to Frances BROWN about 1842. Frances BROWN was born about 1826. Jackson ROBERTS and Frances BROWN had the following children: +2 i. Lucinda ROBERTS. +3 ii. Arminda ROBERTS. +4 iii. Malinda ROBERTS. +5 iv. Laura Amanda ROBERTS. +6 v. Frances ROBERTS. SECOND GENERATION 2. Lucinda ROBERTS was born in 1843 in GA. She died on Oct 6 1917 in Lake Wales, Polk County, FL. She was buried on Oct 7 1917 in the Gandy Cemetery in Connersville, Polk Co., FL. Lucinda sold land to her children on February 23, 1904. Lucinda was married to William MIMBS about 1868 in FL?/GA? William MIMBS was born about 1850 in GA. He died on Dec 25 1886 in Polk County, FL. According to his granddaughter, Ida Blount, William died from cancer of the mouth. He was buried in Polk County, FL. It is not known where in Polk Co. William is buried. It is thought that William came to Polk County, Florida from Georgia just about 1870. Lucinda ROBERTS and William MIMBS had the following children: i. David Jasper MIMBS. ii. Charles M. MIMBS. iii. She died on Jan 9 1922 in Auburndale, Polk, FL. She was buried in Collins Cemetery, Lakeland, Polk, FL. She was married to John WHIDDEN on Sep 17 1866 in Sumter County, FL. 4. Malinda ROBERTS was born about 1847 in GA. Malinda first married William F. Reed (Orange County, FL - Volume 1, page 6). Her second marriage was to James J. "Pokey" SMITH on Jan 24 1883 in Polk Co, FL. According to the 1900 Polk County census, James and Malinda had been married for 18 years. They had one living child. (Polk County marriage records state that James J. Smith married Mrs. Malinda Reade.) 5. Laura Amanda ROBERTS was born on Aug 8 1850 in Lee County, GA. She died on May 3, 1928, in Polk Co, FL. She was buried in Whidden Cemetery, Sick Island, Polk, FL. She was married to James Aaron WHIDDEN (son of Noah WHIDDEN and Rebecca VICKERS) on Jun 12 1870 in Orange County, FL. Orange County, FL Marriages (1869-1881), Volume 1, page 20. James Aaron WHIDDEN was born on Apr 11 1845. He died on Sep 23 1918 in Polk Co, FL. He was buried in Gandy Cemetery, Polk County, FL. James and Amanda are listed in the 1900 Polk County census - Precinct 13, Household # 143. Laura Amanda ROBERTS and James Aaron WHIDDEN had the following children: i. Ame Frances WHIDDEN was born on Dec 16 1871. She died on Jul 9 1956. ii. Henry Jackson WHIDDEN was born in Sep 1873. He died in 1946. iii. Beulah O. WHIDDEN was born in Mar 1876. iv. Noah Webster WHIDDEN was born on Jun 18 1880. He died on Oct 5 1963. v. James Pierson WHIDDEN was born on Sep 26 1882. He died on Nov 6 1917. vi. Martha Matilda "Mattie" WHIDDEN was born in 1888. She died on Sep 12 1898. vii. Amanda WHIDDEN. 6. Frances ROBERTS was born about 1852 in Lee County, GA. She was married to James A. THOMAS (son of James THOMAS and Rhoda COWART). James A. THOMAS was born on Dec 6 1836. He died on Feb 16 1894. He served in the military in Confederate Army. James drew a pension while living in Polk County, FL - pension number A01082. James and Fannie are listed in the 1900 Polk County census - Precinct 12, Sheet 2. They were living two households away from Lucinda Mimbs. Frances ROBERTS and James A. THOMAS had the following children: i. John THOMAS. ii. Ethel THOMAS. iii. Jeff THOMAS. iv. Lucy THOMAS. v. Clara THOMAS.
