    2. Ann Blomquist
    3. Many thanks to John Van Zandt for providing so many of us with the 1789 Goochland Co VA tax list. Here is my identification of all of the Mims listed: Gideon Mims (1740-aft1794), son of David Mims and Agnes Weldy, wife Elizabeth Parrish Robert Mims (1763-aft1789), son of John Mims and Sarah Horn, wife unknown Martin Mims (1756-aft1810), son of John Mims and Sarah Horn, not married (?) Sarah Mims, widow of John Mims (1731-aft1773) Robert Mims Jr (1764-aft1820), son of Shadrack Mims and Elizabeth Woodson, wife Lucy Poor Estate of David Mims dec'd, David Mims (1701-1781) Elizabeth Mims, widow of Shadrack Mims (1732-1777) The two Roberts could be reversed. "Jr" doesn't imply "son of" in this era, but means he is the younger of the two Robert Mims in the county. Ann Blomquist Orlando, FL

    1. [MIMS,MIMMS,MIMBS] Clayton Library in Houston
    2. JAN DAVIS
    3. Has anyone on the list gone to the Clayton Library lately? I tried a few times right after the construction started on what my friend calls the "Tooterville Trolly". They had so much blocked off that I could not get to the parking area. I am still searching for info on Oscar Mims (Ar) father, who was born in Kentucky in 1840 or 41. His name was John M Mims. He was listed as John H Mims in the 1850 Kentucky census. I searching for his family. I thought his father's name was also John, but now have leads that it may be the brother of the elder John, who was David Russell (or Davis Russer) Mims. Our John M Mims was one of several John M Mims living in and around Red River County, Texas in the 1860's. Our John M Mims married Margaret Warren in Red River COunty. They then moved to Arkansas, where John had lived before the war. Jan
