    3. Thank you so much for putting your line on the Mims page. I am confused on one thing. I sent for a manuscript last year called "Reminences of Shadrack Mims" and in it he states that Williamson was married to one Cynthia Cullpepper Moses. I was under the impression that the "Cynthia's" were one in the same.but I note that you refer to 2 Cynthias. Can someone clear this up for me?? Thank you again for the good info. Jeanne

    1. [MIMS-L] LEROY MIMS SON OF CALVIN MIMS
    2. Wanda Ellis
    3. There was a mention of several Leroy Mims on this list a few days ago. Calvin Mims had a son, Leroy C. Mims (possibly Clinton). He gave land to his mother, Elizabeth in Georgia in the 1850's. At the time he signed the land over to her he was living in Chambers County, Alabama. His father later sold the land to his son Josiah Mims. Leroy C. Mims was 34 years of age in the 1860 Census of Chambers County, Alabama. He was a Coach Maker. His wife was Saletha Ann Killian. They were married 8 June 1847 in Muscogee County, Georgia. In the 1860 he children Josephine Mims 12 years, Mary 5 years, Seaborn 3 years and Josiah J. Mims 1 year. Leroy was 34 years of age and Saletha was 30 years of age, both born in Georgia. Calvin Mims and family were listed in the 1850 Census of Stewart County, Georgia. I first found them in Wilkinson County, Georgia in 1820. There is a John and a Wright Mims also listed very close to Calvin. In the Anson Ball Bible there is a William Mims and Agness Mims listed with their birthdates in that Bible. Calvin Mims is also listed with them. If anyone connects to this family, please contact me. Wanda Ellis [email protected]

    3. Hey everybody! I am looking for more information on Miles Edward Mims from Eutawville, SC who died around 1923 and married Lillian Ayers. (2nd wife?) HIs father was William McPherson Mims. I have the whole line before that too but not much else. Anyone else have any info on this line? Also, anyone have any info on an Elizabeth Mims (b 1799 Edgefield Co, SC) who married John Ayers (b 1797). Her parents were Livingston Mims and Martha "Patsy" Perrin. How about Abraham Ayers? Thanks! 3. Ann, Thanks for all your help, as usual! You know that the census takers made so many errors and I believe that this is Robert son of David Mims Sr., and Elizabeth Cullen. Some of the middle names fit the children of Robert Mims and Virginia Jane Riley. This is what I have: Samantha; Elizabeth; Enoch Riley; Robert Hobson; Mary Caroline; Jane; Hardy Booker;William E.; David; Henrietta Della; George Reuger; Silas Perkins; John and Thomas Davis. This was one of the worst censuses I have ever tried to read. I have found that usually tou can use one of those legal pad yellow sheets over a microfilm to read better. Honest, it really works. BUT, this has no effect online! Can't win em all... Maybe I will go back and look again when my eyes are not so tired. I was working on this late at night, I should know better. Is there a site on the web that has your old gedcom? I lost the address ;/ Oh and the Benjamin/Basil thing.... I think it is the right family, but have to find out if his name was Basil. Is there any proof of either? Thanks... 3. Pat, I am doing so many lines I think I shall go mad sometimes trying to keep them straight, but I love it all. I do believe that this Louisa is the wife not sister of William Mims. The sister was listed in my records as Louise. William was married to Louisa Mc Cormack. Louise Augusta Mims, the sister, was b 16 Mar 1817. I hope this clears it up. I suppose I pressed <send> before I had all my facts typed in. Thanks for your replies! 1. [MIMS-L] Williamson Mims' Line
    2. Jeannine Jackson
    3. Laura, this is the first time I've ever seen the complete line though I've seen many mentions of Williamson. Evidently your John, son of Joseph, was a brother to my Martin. My line is William Floyd, Orville Augustus, Jefferson Augustus, David Spivey, Martin, Joseph, Linah, Thomas. I note that you listed a William Henry Mims who married Mary Ann Taylor December 25, 1860 in Dooly Co., GA. I have another MIMS line that started in Dooly Co., GA BUT I have not been able to find out anything about these folks. My grandmother Lucy Janette Mims was born 1874 in Dooly Co., GA to Mary Taylor and LEWIS Mims (or so her death certificate says). The certificate says her mother was Nancy Taylor. However, the 1880 Census shows a Mary Mims, age 37, with two little girls (my grandmother Jane and her sister Mollie - the ages and names are right) and living in the house with them is a Nancy Taylor, age 80, listed as Aunt. No mention of Lewis!?? I believe her mother was Mary Taylor Mims but now wonder if the father's name is wrong on the death certificate. I'm wondering if you have run across this family in your research. The census record says also that Mary and Nancy were born in England! I have not done extensive research on this line since I have so many that are fruitful to research, but really would like to know if my two lines are related. Of course, Sam Mims book says they are!! <G> But, Sam Mims doesn't mention Joseph as a son of Linah -- so where does that leave us? Have posted this to the list -- any help out there? 3. Hi, I've been quietly sitting on the sidelines since joining this list, but do appreciate the help. The message Laura posted on James E. T., the son of Williamson Mims was good news. It reminds me that I am still trying to find out if James E.T. and Ann Mims (b 1804) and Epsy Ann Mims (b 9/30/1811) had the same mother? The last of Williamson and Cynthia Culpupper Moses children was Mary Francis (b 2/9/1838) If Cynthis Culpepper Moses was the mother of Ann, her child=bearing years would have spanned 34 years. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

    3. Hi! Cousin Nelda (Mrs. Cliff Smith) and I made a breakthrough this weekend! We actually got James E. T. Mims date and location of death! We have been seeking this information for YEARS and YEARS. We found a new cousin who has a photo copy of the family Bible for James and Sarah Mims as well has Sara and her second husband's info! James is the son of Williamson Mims. He was born ca 1828 in Montezuma, Houston Co, GA and died May 17, 1861 in Notasulga, Macon Co, AL! No longer do I have to say "E.T. where are you? E.T. come home!" James E.T. Mims is home and has been home all the time! James Mims resting place was the focus of Cliff and Nelda's trip through Georgia a few years back! Will send more info as it arrives! Laura

    3. This is confusing (like what isnt?), regarding the 1810 census for Darlington Dist., SC. I find 4 men, who I believe are brothers, listed as the sons of Richard Mims and Elizabeth Andrews. BUT the two James are listed as Jr. and Sr. Is is possible that we have the srong parents for some or all of these men? Is there any proof available? Thanks... Linda in KCMO -1810 SC Darlington Dist.
