Some unlucky researcher is probably looking for an ancestor or relative, who just might be this guy: 1850 AR Dallas county, Princeton 4 Nov Mims 25 m It isn't that the first name was unreadable, but does not exist. The jailer was E. M. Harris age 45 and in the jail was also an man named Steward, age 30. None of the places of birth were given also. I am hoping that someone might recognize this by the Steward man also being there, perhaps they knew eachother or were related.

McRee is decended from Mary MIMMS and her husband Samuel Hunt Allen and several of the McRee's and Allen's have Mims for middle names. My grandmother McRee married my grandfather Ernest Mims Lane so i have the Mims middle name in the Lane family and in the McRee and Allen families also. My fathers name was Arnett Mims Lane and he said it came from a Dr. MIMS ? I do not know if he was a relative or just the doctor who delivered him. Ann; I got this info from the printed book "The Dubose Family Genealogy" in the Charleston Hist.Soc.Library in February. I check everything I copied and it is correct the way he wrote it. (Not to say the book is correct???) The dates on Wm McP and Mary Dubose look wrong. Could there have been an earllier Wm McP and maybe the one we have is a Jr??? Oh no...another puzzle. Jeanne
