    1. [MIMS-L] William M Mims
    2. eliz Mims
    3. Mr Smith never uses the middle name of Mcpherson for the William he is talking about I found this a bit confusing but something to think about.... Here is part of a letter written by some one named S Norman Smith in 1983 to a Mrs Mims "I borrowed a copy of the Mims book, which was compiled by your Mother in Law, from the Univ. of S C South Carolinia Library hoping that it would help me trace the Mims branch of my family. Since my Great Great Grandfather, William M mims lived and died in the St James goose creek parish of Charles Co. and the Mims book mentioned that Thomas Mims lived in same area. I wondered it these could be a connection. Since the year 1765 was mentioned in the book, the connection could be as follows; Thomas Mims lived in Charles Co in 1765 per the mims book. His son William was possibly the same William listed in the 1800 cen. in Chas as age greater than 45 In 1800 the only Mims listed in the cen. in Chas Co that could be my GGGrandfather William,s father was Joseph Mims. He could have been the son of the above William since they lived near each other.. The genealogy which I am certain of is as follows: William M Mims 1809-1898 Mary M Dubose Harrison John William e Robert L Mary L Thomas Lavinia Peter g Caroline **Richard Nathaniel Joseph Miles E Malory Richard 1844-1916 Eugenia O Smith They were my Great Grandparents Jame w Josephine John Savilla Lilla Carrie Frank Savilla Mims was my Mothers Mother." End of quote..... Ann

    2. Linda: Hope you don't find that Calgon until after you've opened those boxes of census copies! Am hoping that our Glovers/Mims connect somewhere there since I can't seem to find hide nor hair of mine back earlier than the ones listed below. Do you, by any chance, have names of the parents of your Nancy Ann Glover? The Bland, Reed and Draper names do not ring any bells for me. 1. [MIMS-L] Roll Call--Mimms Family from Lincolnshire England and New York State
    2. Ernest T. Sanchez
    3. Hi Again, My wife, Susan M. Jenkins, is the GGG Granddaughter of Daniel Mimms who lived in Lincolnshire, England in the early 1800's. Susan's GG Grandfather, William Mimms, immigrated to the (Monroe County), Rochester, New York area around 1850. Most of these Mimms descendants now live in the New York City area. Susan and I have been on the Mims-L list for about two years. We hope to find the connection between her Mimms family and some of the other Mim(m)s who trace their European origins to an earlier time period. We are impressed with the energy and hard work of the list members. We hope that some of our research will eventually be useful to the rest of you. We would love to find out how these diverse Mim(ms) families fit together. 1. [MIMS-L] William Mimbs
    2. Dear List, Here goes another try for my William! :-) I am looking for the parents of William Mimbs. William was born around 1850 in GA. I do not know where. He married Lucinda Roberts, the daughter of Jackson Roberts, around 1868. William and Lucinda settled in Polk County, FL around 1879. Note: Lucinda's sisters were married around the same time as Lucinda and William were married. They are found in Sumter and Orange Counties in FL. But I cannot find William and Lucinda there! William and Lucinda had the following children: 1. David Jasper b. 1868 2. Charles M. b. 1872 3. Mary Frances b. 1878 4. George Washington b. 1880 5. Lillian Lavinia b. 1884 6. Zebedee Calvin b. 1885 William died in 1886. Lucinda died in 1917. If anyone can give me any leads, I would appreciate it! Joey Mimbs

    3. I don't believe that I have ever introduced myself to the entire group--so here I am. I am Janet Sims and I live in Hattiesburg, MS. I am researching the Mims Family of Chatham and Wake Counties. My direct ancestor is David Mims whom many say married Eliabeth Cullen. But I have not found any proof that she was a Cullen. Would love for someone to prove her parantage. I believe that David's Father was Joseph Mims, (wife Susanna). Joseph I believe was a son on Lionel Mims. But it seems that this Lionel is not the same one who married Ann Martin. It is possible that he was a son of Lionel and Ann Martin. I have done much research on the Mims family in Georgia, because Joseph's other sons: William, John, Martin, Drury and Joseph, Jr. all migrated to GA about 1782. Elizabeth Mims, widow of David, her son Robert and daughter Siddy also moved to Georgia after David's death. I have also done much research in Alabama, especially Monroe, Baldwin, counties tracing the descendants of William Brittan and Needham Mims, sons of my David, who migrated to AL about 1820. Janet Sims My line descends from David, through his son Young Mims and Young's son Barnett Stinson Mims, who migrated to Mississippi. Janet Sims

    2. I am lurking and reading every post in hopes I can find a connection since I know so little about this family. My daughters g-g-grandmother was Adaline Mims who married Ezekiel Cooper I think in Alabama. He fought in the Civil War there before he came to Arkansas. Adaline's mother was Lucinda Mims and think she must have been a Drew before she married John Mims in Sumner Co., Ala on Jan. 14,1839 because she was living with "Drews" on these census. Did her husband die or what happened to him? Adaline died before 1880 and I know of one son John A. Cooper b. 1875. Ezekiel remarried in 1881. Lucinda and Adaline are both buried in Independence Cemetery in Miller Co. Ark. would appreciate any help on this family. 1850 Choctaw Co. Alabama Census James C. I have been on the list since a few hours or days after it started. I have enjoyed the people greatly. That is the reason I am still here. I have about given up getting any information about my connections but here is another try. The information I need is about John MIMS, son of John, and his wife Sarah HORN. (In Leaves Part III he is known as John 4-B) He was born 1731. He married Sarah HORN and my HORN line came from the same area so I believe that HORN connection with MIMS is my line. I have yet to connect her to my HORNS but they were all in the same county at one point. If anyone knows about John MIMS marry. On the same MIMS tree, several branches later, there are two in-laws that connect the MIMS/KIMMEY lines. They are a side branch to my KIMMEY line. Harriett MIMS married my gggGrandfather John Mason KIMMEY after my gggGrandmother COLLINS died. Narcissa, a daughter of John KIMMEY married Abijah MIMS, the brother of Harriett. These two MIMS are: Harriett Jane MIMS, b. 1822 in Darlington District, SC., m. Dale Co., AL., d. Angelina Co., TX. Abijah MIMS, b. 1811 in Darlington District, SC., m. Dale Co., AL. Thank you Ann and others for your efforts for the MIMS list. Howard Ford
