Mr Smith never uses the middle name of Mcpherson for the William he is talking about I found this a bit confusing but something to think about.... Here is part of a letter written by some one named S Norman Smith in 1983 to a Mrs Mims "I borrowed a copy of the Mims book, which was compiled by your Mother in Law, from the Univ. of S C South Carolinia Library hoping that it would help me trace the Mims branch of my family. Since my Great Great Grandfather, William M mims lived and died in the St James goose creek parish of Charles Co. and the Mims book mentioned that Thomas Mims lived in same area. I wondered it these could be a connection. Since the year 1765 was mentioned in the book, the connection could be as follows; Thomas Mims lived in Charles Co in 1765 per the mims book. His son William was possibly the same William listed in the 1800 cen. in Chas as age greater than 45 In 1800 the only Mims listed in the cen. in Chas Co that could be my GGGrandfather William,s father was Joseph Mims. He could have been the son of the above William since they lived near each other.. My daughters g-g-grandmother was Adaline Mims who married Ezekiel Cooper I think in Alabama. He fought in the Civil War there before he came to Arkansas. Adaline's mother was Lucinda Mims and think she must have been a Drew before she married John Mims in Sumner Co., Ala on Jan. 14,1839 because she was living with "Drews" on these census.
