    3. If any of you go to the Prattville Hist.Soc.Museum/Lib. be sure to look up Lenore Kirkpatrick. She descends from Wilbur Fisk Mims and Shadrack. We met her and jumped into our car and showed us all around at the Shadrach Mims house, the Mims Hotel (that was etched in the front door saying "est.1843") and telling us stories abt the family that you would never find anywhere. When you walk into the Library you turn right into the "Mims"room and there hangs 2 huge pictures of Shadrach and Elizabeth (Dowsing). It was a very fun day. Info: Oak Hill Cem. Prattville,Autauga Co,Ala. MARGARET E.MIMS 10/24/1842 - 12/11/1912 E.M.DAVIS (husband) 9/23/1837 - 5/30/1901 CSA ......Mims (dtr of Shadrach) (m) James Howell Jernigan CSA *She was sent to Deaf/Dumb school in Cave Spgs,Ga She wasnt allowed to go alone and sister Margaret went with her. FANNIE MIMS (7/17/1849 - 11/18/1873).She married J.H.EDWARDS. Mr Edwards bought the Shadrach plantation house after Shade lost it at end of Civil War. Shadrach and wife lived with them in this house which is now a Bed/Board with beautiful grounds. It is now known as the "Edwards House" SHADRACH MIMS (7/26/1804 -= 10/21/1885) *He lost everything in Civil War. Evidently he liked to write. Elnore Kirkpatrick says they have boxes and boxes of his letters written to everyone, politicians, friends, relatives, written histories of the area. etc. Elnore has been the leading force to restore and preserve the old homes etc. the MIMS HOTEL house was bought & moved into the old section and to pay the mortgage it is rented out as Beauty Shop. the lady there is very happy to have people come and see it. Uncle Seaborn Mims was guardian of Shadrach until he was of age. Seaborn came to area first (abt 8 miles on the river) Vernon,Ala. He sent for Shadrach who settled in what is now Prattville.
