    3. Ann, Here is what I have on the first family in question, and I agree it is the family you named. James Mims b 1803 Lamar, darlington, SC; d 1850 same place; m Eleanor b 1805; children: Elizabeth b 1827 James Jackson b 1829 Eliza b 1832 David J. b 1835 Martha A. b 1838 (all in Lamar) Father of James Mims was George W. Mims, Sr., b 1776 Darlington, SC; d 1841 Darlington; m 1797 Darlington, Julia b 1777 Darlington. Father of George W. Mims was Richard Mims, Sr., mother, Mary Elizabeth Andrews. I do not have the other Eleanor nor that Rufus in my database. The only Rufus I have was Rufus Marion Mims b 1845, d 1921, son of Jefferson Augustus Mims and Susan Marion Fuller. Ann if you want this GEDcom, as is, it has 2719 persons in it all related to the Mims surname, to do with as you wish. Linda in KCMO

    1. [MIMS] : Commandments For Ancestors
    2. eliz Mims
    3. I hope you don,t mind that I pass this alont to the List Jeannine> This was too good not to pass on. The Thirteen Commandments for Names: 1) Thou shalt name your male children: James, John, Jarrett, Robert, Joseph, Abel, Richard,Thomas,Samuel or William. 2) Thou shalt name your female children: Elizabeth, Mary, Martha, Maria, Ann Sarah, Ida, Virginia or Mae. 3) Thou shalt leave NO trace of your female children. 4) Thou shalt, after naming your childen from the above lists, never refer to them by those names again; instead, thou shalt call them by strange nicknames as: Ike, Eli, Polly, Dolly, Sukey. Bubba, Bud, or Sonny > 5) Thou shalt not use any middle names on ANY legal documents or census reports; and whenever possible, use only initials on legal documents. 6) Thou shalt learn to sign all documants illegibly so that your surname can be spelled, or misspelled in various ways: Tipper, Topper, Hopper, Tucker,Tapper. 7) Thou shalt, after no more than 3 generation, make sure that all family > records are lost, misplaced, burned in a court house fire, lost at sea or buried so that NO future trace of them can be found. 8) Thou shalt propagate misleading legends, rumors and vague innuendo regarding your place of origin. a) You may have come from: England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales ...or Iran. b) You may have American Indian Ancestory of the ____tribe. c) You MAY have descended from one of three brothers that came over from _____. 9) Thou shalt leave no cemetery records, headstones or headstones with legible names; nor will any of the dates thereon match those in public > records. 10) Thou shalt leave no family bible with records of birth, marriage or death. 11) Thou shalt ALWAYS flip thy name around. If born James Albert, thou > must make the rest of thy records in the name of Albert, AJ, JA, AL, Bert, Bart or Fred. 12) Thou must also flip thy parents names around when making reference to them, although "Unknown" is an acceptable alternative. 13) Thou shalt name all generations of children with the identical first names, as will all of the brothers so that all cousins are named the same ______________________________

    3. Ann or anyone else; I have been trying to locate Littleton Mims. I have found that John "Bub" Mims/Mary Eliz.Andrews had a dtr Harriett Jane who married Mr Kimmy. she named her son Littleton Kimmy. Her brother was Robert "L" born abt 1807-1810 in SC. That is the same time period that Littleton Mims was born Does it make sense that she might name her son after her brother. I think the "L" in his middle name might stand for Littleton.and his nephew carried his name. The next generation down also has a Littleton Mims. Any feed back for me. thanks, Jeanne

    3. I hope someone can use this info. As you can see it is a "hodge-podge" of information however, sometimes one little piece will help you to get going. I seached every single library looking for Littleton Mims. I found absolutely nothing...I still think that Littleton is connected to Littleton Peavy somehow. and that Littleton is his middle name. I had 154 e-mails when I got home so please be patient and I will get back to answer them all. Thanks Gang., Jeanne
